The “Learning Gardens” is an off the grid working homestead, located between Canton and Athens, about 15 minutes from each town. The Learning gardens is primarily focused on growing food with a holistic regenerative approach. This is an ideal place for those passionate about growing food and learning about sustainable living! We have ongoing projects and between the greenhouses and gardens, there is always something growing and lessons to learn. Campers are welcomed to explore the gardens, participate hands on if they desire, and harvest fresh food when it’s available! There are a variety of campsites around the homestead that have access to numerous trails, a small lake and some ponds.Pine Crossing is located on the edge of a pine grove at the Learning gardens homestead. The sprawling view to the south overlooks lake Big John, with numerous hiking trails just north of the campsite. This pull in site is suitable for a camper van or a small popup camper. 4WD is recommended if the ground is wet, when ground is dry any vehicle can access. This campsite includes a fire ring, two Adirondack chairs, a bliss rail with a jug of potable water, additional potable water is available at the homestead. Outhouse toilet is a 1 minute walk away at the homestead. Campers are welcomed to explore the gardens, participate hands on if they desire, and harvest fresh food when it’s available! The homestead and other campsites are nearby, so this is not a fully private site.
