Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Huckaway is a little camping oasis just off the Tasman Highway. Green pastures are bordered by forestry land to the East and a river to the South. Go for a bush walk through the forest, a swim or fish in the river, you might even find a trout! This property is the perfect location if you are here to enjoy either the Derby trails or the St Helens trails with some of the shuttles going straight past the front gate! St Helens is a 15-minute drive away and The Bay of Fires is 30 mins. The wide camping area has plenty of open flat space to park any type of caravan or van. Park down near the river, or tuck yourself in beside the forest, up to you. All campers need to be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, and we kindly request you take all your waste with you. There is a dump station in St Helens. Well-behaved pets are welcome also! Please be mindful that dogs do not chase the neighbours cows and please pick up after them.Huckaway is a little camping oasis just off the Tasman Highway. Quiet and quaint ☺️
My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at the Huckaway Stay. We were very lucky to be the only guests during our stay, so we got to thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and quiet surrounds. It was lovely being surrounded by the forest, the river sounds, and spotting the occasional wildlife, as well as seeing the cows and sheep in the paddocks nearby. We will definitely recommend to friends and family if they travel to Tassie.

Peaceful camping
Beautiful place to stay, peaceful and tranquil, gorgeous surroundings if not for the rain we would have stayed longer.

A stunning location for me to camp with my tent. Flo (my lab) loved the grassy flat spot surrounded by tall trees and stunning little river. Great communication and directions to find it. A beautiful & peaceful part of the world.

Lots of land to park the van on and a lovely river to look over. It was great to be able to have a campfire too. The updated instructions sent through made the place easy to find and access :)

Loved Huckaway
We loved camping at Huckaway! We had so much room, right alongside the creek. Our two dogs spent the majority of our stay off lead around our camp and playing in the water. Very peaceful place, couple of noisy cows across the way (but you expect that in the country!) and it was so nice being able to have a fire each night ☺️

Nice spot by the creek
Great location & peaceful spot by the creek. Only downside was the Directions provided, unnecessarily confusing and could be simplified by saying turn right at the Taylor’s road sign after number 70. Camp host wasn’t responsive when trying to locate the directions.
