A cosy log cabin in the heart of Scotland, with uninterrupted mountain views and pubs within walking distance

We all know that the quintessential “getting away from it all” experience is retreating to a cabin in the woods. And there are fewer better locations for such an escape than the heart of Scotland. Wee Blue Dream provides exactly that, with a log cabin located in the peaceful village of Pitlochry. Here you can bring your loved ones (including dogs) for a restful getaway, where you'll enjoy far-reaching views of Ben Vrackie mountain and a network of excellent footpaths right from your doorstep.

Wee Blue Dream is a self-catering, simple log cabin for up to three guests plus pets. It's quaint, cosy, and full of character. In fact, it's a perfect reflection of Pitlochry itself, a real Scottish hidden gem known for its warmth and hospitality. You'll have everything you need for a hassle-free trip, from comfy beds, a wood-burning stove, and firewood to keep toasty in the evenings, to a private shower room just a step away, and a TV with WiFi for rainy Netflix nights in. There's plenty of options for food with a view, too – enjoy a sunrise barbecued breakfast on the private terrace, and toast marshmallows on the firepit near the wildlife pond.

Wake up in the morning, put your dog on its lead, and go for a ramble around your scenic surroundings. A five-minute walk will get you to the Black Spout, a woodland that shares its name with a beautiful 60-metre waterfall that can be admired from a viewing platform. If you've conveniently left your walking boots at home, you can take a swift stroll into Pitlochry town and sink a few in the local pub. Or you can use Wee Blue Dream as a base for exploring the wider Perth, from the nearby Cairngorms National Park and its exhaustive abundance of outdoor activities to the picturesque dark stretch of water that is Loch Tay.

Wee Blue Dream is a simple, comfortable log cabin with amazing views of the Black Castle and Ben Vrackie, Pitlochry, Scotland. A great escape for 1-3 people, especially for outdoor activities or simply relaxing at the fire pit with a glass of red wine. Lucy, our akita collie cross, welcomes all friendly dogs FOC. There is a wood-burning stove, double futon sofa/bed and day bed - all bedding provided, and a small kitchen area. There is a private shower room 10 metres away, with dishwasher. Inside you will find a wood burning stove, double futon sofa/bed and day bed with all bedding provided. For cooking, there is a small kitchen area with kettle, microwave oven, Ninja Foodi , induction hob, casserole pan frying pan and fridge. There is also a small dining table with two fold-down chairs. Outside there is a simple outdoor kitchen area with gas barbecue, outdoor pizza oven and a fire pit beside our wee wildlife pond. There is also a type 2 EV charge point that can be used by arrangement. On your private terrace are chairs and a fold down dining table, perfect for sunrise breakfasts or sunset dinners. On arrival, you will find some basics. Milk and orange juice in the fridge (vegan alternative if requested in advance), coffee, tea, hot chocolate, muesli, olive oil, salt, pepper and rice. We are committed to reducing your environmental impact while you stay with us. All our electricity comes from renewable sources, your firewood is locally sourced from a responsible supplier, your water will be heated by a Heat Pump, and the cabin is in the middle of the wildlife end of our small garden. Here you will find tadpoles in our pond, birch, cherry and holly trees growing in our mini woodland, apple trees and woodland wildflowers.

And a small beech hedge which is home to our resident sparrows – your only noisy neighbours. Guest access We also provide off street parking (with a type 2 EV charge point). The town centre is 20 minutes walk, and the local footpath network goes right past the property, giving access to wonderful countryside. Nearby attractions

Ben Vrackie can be seen from the cabin, and you can reach it by car in under a 20-minute drive. Put on appropriate hiking boots and warm clothing as hill-climbing and walking around this 841-metre-high mountain can take between three to four hours. The footpath starts right from the car park or, alternatively, walk to the mountain itself from your cabin, as you'll pass the nearby Black Castle ruins, and then enjoy a pleasant ramble through heather moorland. The cabin is also located near the outskirts of Cairngorms National Park, a proper day out for adventurers. If you're feeling particularly brave, you can book a bungee jumping session (0345 366 5844) with Highland Fling Bungee, right over some stunning Highland Perthshire scenery.

Food and drink

It's less than a 15-minute walk into the town of Pitlochry, where there are a bunch of great places to eat and drink. Auld Smiddy Inn is a popular local pub with an outdoor seating area at the front, unique due to its early 20th-century exterior complemented by a contemporary, refurbished interior. There's an open fire lit in the afternoon, and a varied food menu of pub classics and some sublime seafood dishes – the steamed mussels come recommended. Knockendarroch provides an upmarket dining experience, with the hotel's award-winning restaurant serving three-course meals with booking required (01796 473473). The modern Scottish menu features a rotating choice of starters, mains, and desserts, and guests can enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the lounge. If you're in the mood for Indian food, Cidsin is only a 10-minute walk from the site, a bistro and gin bar with a menu inspired by both the modern and traditional flavours of the country, and a robust selection of gins from Scotland and beyond.
