La Creole

Dallas, Polk, Oregon
45 acres hosted by Beau C.
Avatar
La Creole's name honors the mixed heritage of this area. The nearby creek, now known as Rickreall, was originally called La Creole, a name that dates back to the 1700s. French and Quebecois trappers were active in the area, where many settled alongside native populations and many of the geographical names in the Willamette Valley derive from that heritage. The orchard grows 15 cultivars of olives for the production of extra virgin olive oil. You are welcome to join us for harvesting in October. Learn more about this land: Park at bottom of the hill then walk up to enjoy the views, the olive orchard, the wildlife (wild turkeys, colorful pheasants, quail, kestrels and hawks, and occasional bobcat). Pick your spot anywhere on the 45 acres to pitch your tent. Watch the Moon rise over Mount Pisgah.
