🙂 HAPPY TRAILS LANDING ⛺️ Happy Trails Landing offers primitive camping and is located between Bully Hill, Klipnocky, Gas Springs and Hiltonville State Forests on 140 acres of privately owned land. This peaceful spot is accessible, yet remote. The Finger Lakes Trail (FLT) follows the edge of the property for over 1/2 mile making your stay ideal for day hikes, or as a stop for those hiking longer sections of the 450+ mile network. Wade in the headwaters of the Canisteo River which passes through, or just get lost in the beauty along its shores. Explore streams and beaver ponds, stroll on miles of mowed grassy trails that wind around fields, meadows, and woods. Watch the sun rise and set and open views make for unparalleled star gazing all night long. The nearest 3 small towns are about 7-8 miles away where you can find groceries, gas, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The larger “city” of Hornell, (with a Walmart and more) is a 15-20 minute drive. The beautiful Stoney Brook State Park is a 22 minute drive and award winning Letchworth State Park is less than 40 minutes away. We are just slightly southwest of the renowned Finger Lakes Region, but our local wine trail begins in under a 15 minute drive. Several breweries have popped up nearby as well! Happy Trails will strive to keep your camping experience peaceful and private by not renting to more than one party at a time in the same area unless requested for larger group experiences. Our home is located 1/4 +/- mile from most sites. We are dog lovers and well behaved dogs are welcome as long as owners notify us in advance, keep them in control and clean up after them. When you arrive you will follow 🙂 signs to your site. There may be scant service without searching out a sweet spot.Riverside Camp: Overlooking the headwaters of the Canisteo River, this area contains two tent sites (Riverside West Camp; Riverside East) but both will be rented to only one party at a time. You will have 2 fire rings, one picnic table, several benches, smaller tables, some solar lighting, access to the river bed to wade and explore, and a newer pit toilet outhouse. Firewood (10 logs + some kindling) will be provided for each night’s stay and extra provided for a nominal fee if needed. Regular size vehicles and smaller RVs can easily drive and park within 100 yards of the more private tenting area, accessed by a small footbridge to the site. One or two regular size vehicles (with higher clearance and all wheel drive) may be able to be parked park at the sites, except during extremely wet conditions. Accommodates up to 6 people with a limit of 3 regular vehicles or 2 regular vehicles and a small (under 20’) RV. When you arrive you will follow 🙂 signs to your site. There is scant or no cell service without searching out a sweet spot.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The site was private, serene and well appointed. We appreciated how large the area was and having the flexibility to choose how to set up everything. It was also hands-down the nicest outhouse we've ever come across! Meg was very hospitable and even gave us some lovely veggies from her garden. She was also a great resource for things to do in the area. We will definitely be back.

Private and Stunning Campsite
Tent
This place was awesome! Absolutely stunning and well maintained. We had so much privacy and the creek was adorable. The dirt road coming from the south side is little rough but you just have to drive slow. The only improvement would be to get a sturdier bridge going to campsite and creek. I thought it was going to break- seems a little weathered. Other than that, it was a beautiful clean campsite. Meg was a fantastic host.

Magical
Tent · With pets
Magical. Absolutely magical. The spot is tucked back up to the water and while you may hear the occasional truck it's drowned out by the birds, frogs, coyotes, and the babbling creek. My dog loved being able to run around the fields and through the water, and I loved watching the path lights twinkle on aside the fireflies. So many cute spots to just sit and enjoy the peace. Firewood and a cooking rack were all there tarped and dry for our arrival in the rain. And having an outhouse (with lights!) can not be understated. Would love to come back again for another getaway for rest and relaxation.

All around great camping
Tent · With kids
Absolutely beautiful spot for camping and Meg is an amazing host. It was a hard decision between the two spots for pitching our tent because they’re both so good! You can hear the calming river sounds from one, or just a little more open space from the other (which we picked for our big tent). Meg has really thought of everything from solar lighting in the outhouse for nighttime, to seating in all the best view points, to even decorating the sites for Halloween! Our kids kept saying “this is such a nice camp spot!” and “I don’t wanna leave!” :) Our two dogs also had an amazing time hiking and just snoozing by the fire. The Finger Lakes Trail is right up the road for some great hiking, and Meg has even made her own trails on the land. We definitely want to come back in the summer. Thank you, Meg, for such a fun and welcoming experience!

I was looking for somewhere quiet and a little isolated and Meg's camp was perfect. The campsite was very well taken care of. Paths mowed throughout the camping area and also walks around Megs property to little seating areas. It was very well taken care of. Big fire ring, new outhouse and a 1 minute walk to a small brook running alongside the camp. The entrance to the main camping area was a little tight for our travel trailer but no problems for pick ups or smaller trailers. A well equiped, well kept camp. We were very happy and will be returning in 2 weeks! Thank you.
