"Willowbank" is a stunning 252 acre property located in the picturesque Karuah River valley with 1km of river frontage. The property has been in our family for 4 generations, being bought by Ian's great grandfather in the 1920's. We cater for guests that are looking to get back to nature and enjoy the great outdoors without feeling overcrowded! We want our guests to be happy and have the best experience possible. Located only 8 minutes drive from the historical town of Stroud which was settled by the AA Company in the 1820's as a food growing area. There are still many beautiful buildings from that period to explore. A dairy farm for many years, we switched over to beef around 15 years ago. Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle. Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway! We are offering 5 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river. You may get a visit from our horses, Dolly and Banjo and the cows and calves! Plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing. All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township) We hope to make your stay a pleasurable one with many happy memories made. The Paperbarks

The nicest hosts you will meet, offering well maintained private sites along the river on their spectacular property. We had 2 full days and 3 nights of pure bliss and have already booked another stay next month. Bonus having phone and wifi reception. Thanks Ian and Jo xxxx

The Rapids

Beautiful little spot by the flowing river, we slept well listening to that! Plenty of space, reasonably flat, nicely cut grass, fire pit, decent distance from the other camp sites. Ian and Jo were both lovely. What more could you want? Would definitely return, or recommend to anyone.

Wow! What an amazing property Willowbank was to stay at and what a great weekend away we had! Willowbank definitely provided what we needed which was amazing downtime; where we ate, drank, swam and explored. Being so close to the river we were lulled to sleep by the water rushing by. We managed to get a nice swim in and explore a little around the property where we were met with beautiful cows and horses. We were just in awe about how beautiful the property was and how lucky we were to stay on it. Jo and Ian are such amazing and friendly hosts and we are very thankful for their amazing hospitality! We will definitely be back and are already lining up a few dates in the coming months. Thank you again for opening up your land for others to experience.

The Paperbarks

We totally enjoyed our stay at Paperbarks. The campsite was very well maintained and right on the banks of the river. The river was easily accessible and very picturesque. Joanne and Ian were the perfect hosts - even supplying some fresh picked chokos to cook on the bbq. We couldn’t ask for anything more. Terry and Michelle.

We had such a great time at Willowbank, and Joanne and Ian were so lovely!! Great communication and nothing was a problem. The privacy was great as was river access, and we had lots of peace and quiet for the duration of the stay. There is also phone reception for any emergencies but didn’t need it. We also got a tour of the other sites as we will definitely be back! Thanks guys for such a great experience… M & K xoxo
