Enjoy wide country spaces surrounded by coastal wetlands on Micalo Island. We provide a secluded sanctuary located 10 minutes from the town centre of Yamba. Yamba is known to have some of Australia's best beaches Ideal for surfing, fishing and all of your water sports needs. Other main attractions of Yamba include; Yamba Golf and Country Club, Yamba Bowling Club, the Pacific Hotel and Yamba Shores Tavern. Just a short drive further south lies the beautiful village of Angourie and the Yuraygir National Park. Coles shopping centre is only a 2 minute drive making stocking up on essentials quick and easy. Our riverfront site is ideal for smaller set-ups wanting a more private setting with kayak access and fishing at your front door. Larger caravans and RVs are more suited around the freshwater dam with gravel road access and there is plenty of room on the open grassy spots for tents and small vans. New Shelter and BBQ area has now been completed next to the dam with a picnic table, seating and potable water available. A wide variety of flora and fauna call these sensitive mangrove wetlands home. Ideal for birdwatchers and outdoor enthusiasts wanting to explore this special area. Instagram - @micaloe.co

Micalo offers a peaceful camping experience just a short drive from Yamba, with plenty of space for privacy and a charming setting by the dam. Guests appreciate the welcoming hosts and the chance to enjoy nature, with lots of wildlife and good access to the town. However, some find it pricey, especially considering the lack of basic amenities like toilets. Overall, it's a mixed bag with beautiful surroundings but some room for improvement in facilities.

We came in a few days after the cyclone passed. We were delighted to find that although many of the sites were waterlogged we were able to find a great spot near the giant goanna statue and spent 2 lovely days all to ourselves. Good amenities but the areas around the amenities could do with brushcutter attention. WE WILL BE BACK!!

Overall we had a great experience in a beautiful location. Unfortunately BBQ had no gas bottle to use. It is a beautiful area but a little pricey with additional fees.

Lovely simple campground with communal bbq and picnic area by a dam and fire pit, outdoor shower and beautiful grassy fields. Really enjoyed the star gazing and nice and close to Yamba

Fantastic campground. Highly recommend. Rob was so easy to deal with and super nice bloke. Awesome shower and all rubbish and recycling bins for easy clean up. Super close to town so very easy to hit the beach or duck in for supplies.

Beat place to stay in Yamba

We are repeat visitors here. Always a great stay! Great to be near Yamba, but away from the crowds and in a peaceful spot at night. Road is well maintained and signage is clear. Sites are well maintained. They take their environmental responsibilities seriously and provide recycling bins as well as normal bins. They have restored the mangroves and surrounding areas beautifully. We see many different species of birds everything we visit. Cheers guys! See you next time :)
