This land is just off the "Old Taos Highway" which used to be a travel route for the Conquistadors who mined gold out of the nearby Sangre de Cristo Mountains. They would sometimes bury their gold along the way as to avoid being robbed. Located in the shadow of Taos Mountain, this place is mystical. After leaving my corporate job, I've set up a homestead here, all built by my mom and I. The campsite is adjacent to our homestead, and it embodies all of the beauty and excitement that the West Mesa offers.Sleep under the stars in the desert on the Mesa, surrounded by mountains. Enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets and wildlife such as jack rabbits and coyotes. This is a primitive camp site on our beautiful 20 acres just a few miles from the John Dunne Bridge, connected to miles of national monument land and near a free hot springs. During the day, there will be folks working on the farm, but the 20 acres is completely private at night. Enjoy the peace and serenity of the desert. Sleep well with the security of a locked gate. Gain direct access to the Rio Grande.

New Earth Homestead
It was a little tricky to find in the dark, but with the detailed directions and a bit of rereading we eventually found the campsite. I’d recommend that they put up some signage or lights to help direct other night time arrivals.

Serene and Great View
Very peaceful and private. So serene. The view was amazing. Having a porta potty was a plus! I will definitely be back!

New Earth Homestead
Cheap, mid-difficult access
Place was out on a very bumpy dirt road, had port-a-potty and firepit and flat wooden “porch”. Directions on app helped because they pointed out that there would be an orange port-a-potty. But other information such as saying there would be need to enter gate code and signs designating the correct entrance threw me off because they were not there

New Earth Homestead
Dear Bethany Coambs, My name is David and I spent Monday and Tuesday camping on your property outside Taos, New Mexico, which you named, "New Earth Homestead". When I arrived on the property, it became increasingly clear that you and your family had abandoned the property late last year, and it has been ravaged by winds ever since. Dirty diapers buried in the dirt, children's toys and clothes, alongside spent bullet shells and whiskey bottles. A Jeep Cherokee, two trailers, coolers full of rotten food, many grow houses wrapped in shredding plastic, a mini-bus, and a full-sized schoolbus are all sitting in decay and metals and plastics are disintegrating into the New Mexico sand, polluting this area for the wildlife that are trying to take it back. My first question is this? Are you and your children okay? I called your phone but it's disconnected. I spent the two days and nights on your property cleaning it up and restoring it to a nice place to camp. I also gathered all of your children's toys and prepared them, in case your children return to play with them. I cleaned up the fenced in yard and made it so that they could begin playing immediately upon this hypothetical return. I made spaces to shelter from the wind, lounge, and enjoy the incredible landscape, sunrises/sunsets, and the awe-inspiring Milky Way and stars at night, lit up w/ Christmas lights, and awaiting your return. This land needs to be cleaned, and if you need help, I'll be happy to come back
