All to yourself
100% of recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp felt private.
Welcome to a serene, boondocking RV site tucked in to a rare, private pocket of old growth forest. Somehow this lot avoided the rampant logging of most of NH and is part of the 1% of old growth forest in New England. Surround yourself in the soothing sights and sounds of a cascading brook dappled with sunlight through the cover of towering trees. Set up camp and let the ancient forest gently takes over. There is only one site here. which rests in a level, shaded clearing, overlooking dozens of cascading mini waterfalls. It comfortably fits most boondocking capable RVs and offers a truly immersive stay in the woods. This is a leave no trace situation. Whether you're enjoying a morning coffee by the fire or streaming music under the stars, this is a space to both unwind and reconnect. As one guest put it: "Very nice spot overlooking a brook with an amazing fire location (calling it a pit doesn't begin to describe it)." – Mike R. When you’re ready to move, explore our private nature trail that winds along the brook and leads to a beaver damned wetland hidden in the forest. Many of the Hemlock trees you will pass are between 150 to 300 years old. This forest is moist and cool and is filled with by a highly diverse ecosystem, teaming with life, in its own dynamic balance. On hot days, cool off with a refreshing dip in the deep natural pool along the way. Though you’ll feel miles from anywhere—strong WiFi helps give peace of mind, whether you're working remotely, staying in touch with loved ones, or stargazing with a soundtrack. We (Brad and Christine, AKA forest nerds) live in an off-grid log cabin just up the hill and are happy to offer guidance or help if needed. We’re located about 25 minutes from downtown Wolfeboro, the oldest summer resort town in America. nestled along the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire’s largest lake. The region is rich with outdoor adventure—hiking and mountain biking trails, paddling on rivers and lakes, and scenic views at every turn. The Cotton Valley Rail Trail is just a short drive away. Craving a seaside day trip? The coastlines of Maine and New Hampshire—with their rocky outcroppings, sandy beaches, and postcard-perfect towns like Portsmouth, York, Kennebunkport, and Ogunquit—are only about an hour away. This is a boondocking-only site—no hookups—so come ready for an off-grid experience. Strong WiFi is available, and the password will be posted on the bulletin board by the wood bundle rack. Surrounded on three sides by mature oak, beech, and hemlock, the site has dappled light throughout the day. If you're relying on solar, we recommend parking in the center of the pad for optimal sun exposure. We live up the driveway, you may catch glimpses of our woodshed and other structures. Feel free to explore our private trail—just walk to the little bridge and cross it. The trail is a simple earthen path that meanders along the brook. It's about a quarter-mile one way and ends at an active beaver dam wetland. You’ll find 3 small natural pools beside the trail. The first one is best for swimming—it has a sand and boulder bottom and, when the brook is high, it can reach over five feet deep with a gentle current. Please swim with care. It is in deep shade most of the day, but when the sun shines on it, it is perfectly clear. The spring-fed brook never dries up, but it does respond quickly to rain, snowmelt, and seasonal changes. In late April, keep an eye out for the Black-Nosed Dace carp as they leap the cascade in a dazzling spawning run to the wetland—thousands of fish in motion. Across the road, our neighbor’s pasture hosts a changing cast of donkeys, horses, sheep, and pigs. They sell their free range meat at a Kiosk at the highway. Here in the forest, expect visits from eastern woodland wildlife—deer, turkeys, ducks, otters, porcupines, snapping turtles, beavers, herons, owls, hawks, and more. There are moose, bears, coyotes and bobcats on property from time to time, but they are rarely seen. They can be heard more often than seen. Stay aware. This old forest has its own rhythm—many guests describe feeling a subtle magic here, a hint of mossy enchantment, as though a gnome or fairy might peek out from behind a tree at any moment. We do guarantee ogre-free bridge crossing 🌿

Campfires allowed
Firepit, private. We have a firewood bundle self serve kiosk with payment instructions on site.
Pets allowed
On leash. We have two elderly dogs, a beagle and a shitzu. They are free range from our cabin. They generally don't wander down to the site, but we can't be sure they won't. We also have neighbors who walk their dogs off leash, so they may want to come and investigate. None of these dogs are aggressive, but we never know if they may bark or upset your pet. This is why keeping your dog contained is key, so they don't get surprised, or don't shoot off to investigate and upset our dogs. Thanks for understanding.

Very nice spot overlooking a brook with an amazing fire location (calling it a pit doesn't begin to describe it). Comes with bench at the fire, chairs and a nice picnic table. Pretty flat. Nice and private, and the owners are super nice and responsive.

Camping in peace

A perfectly spacious and cozy site. The babbling brook right beside it was a delight to fall asleep to, and, to top it all off, the farm across the street made for a beautiful place to watch the auroras.

Camping by the river!
Tent · With pets
We really enjoyed Brad’s site, it was so relaxing. It was definitely worth the drive from Mass. He met us at the campsite and told us what was around. Brad was excellent! I would definitely recommend taking some time to check this spot out!

Slice of heaven in New Hampshire

This is definitely one of my favorite places we have stayed. The subtle brook flowing by the campsite gave us the soundtrack we needed. Great walks around the area, and not far from the downtown area of Wolfborough. We absolutely loved our time and would come back again!
