They say a rainy day on the lake is better than a sunny day in the city and with the cool waterfront breezes, fishing and canoeing, early evening tequila on the dock, and a generally life-affirming vibe beckoning, who are we to argue with that logic? Just bring your sleeping bag and sleep in our tent at our designated camping spot that offers a picnic table, fire pit and beautiful river and scenic lake views. Wake to see deer drinking at the lake or geese swimming and fishing in the lake and creek. At night clearly see all the stars that twinkle while enjoying total peace and quiet. The lake is stocked with a variety of fish and fishing is allowed. We have two wooded acres behind our house that offer a safe, quiet, secluded spot to spend some time relaxing, away from the horns blaring, sirens screaming and cars honking. Located just 20 minutes outside the beltway we offer a close getaway that makes it feel like the city is hours away. The site is located in an area of expensive homes with each property being 3 or more acres and inhabited with some of the friendliest people you'll meet. They wave at you when you pass and if close enough, will speak and exchange a few friendly words. Nearby are great sites to visit. The Dr. Samuel Mudd house, Regency furniture Stadium, a site for amateur baseball games, the Schaegel Farms where the kids can play. eat lunch, pet all the animals and pick fresh strawberries, and the Scary Strokes indoor miniature golf course set to a Halloween theme. See the "DC at Dusk" guided tour in Wash, DC and see DC lit up at night on a guided mini-bus tour. Drive by and stop at some of the city’s top memorials and attractions, including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Marine Corps War Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial, which are usually less crowded after dark. With transportation and navigation taken care of, all you have to do is sit back, relax, and sightsee. Want to have a little fun at the slot machines or poker tables? The MGM Grand is only about twenty minutes away in National Harbor which offers an outlet mall with many shopping and eating venues. They also have concerts with big celebrities, free jazz concerts outdoors every Thursday, a variety of restaurants plus a huge Ferris Wheel that lets you see DC. Maryland and VA all from a great vantage point. Parking is in our driveway and the site is about 30 yards away, a two minute walk along a lighted pathway. Camper vans or trailers will not be able to drive to or park at the camping area and are therefore not recommended. Oscars' Oasis
Oscar was really nice, there was a tent set up there already and the toilet set up was nice! However, there's a public trail RIGHT in front of the tent. Think if you're standing by your house front door in a townhouse, so not a lot of land space, and there are people walking on the sidewalk. I can see how this would not bother or affect other people, but my idea of camping is being away from people, which is why we use hipcamp, and don't go to national parks. My dog was not happy with all the commotion, as we were there for less than one hour, and we saw at the very least 7 people walking by. There are houses nearby and you can see them from the campsite. Again, this could work for those who have different camping expectations, but it was not for us! We drove 2hrs there and came back home the same day. I do wish the description had been clearer about the trail (or a path? not sure how to call, but it was a place to walk and people were walking!), and how close it was to other houses. The host was nice and the tent set up was also nice, I just would not come back and would not recommend for being so close to other houses! :(

Oscars' Oasis
Not private or secluded.
Overall, it was not a great experience. It was pretty awful. We chose this place for seclusion yet I have never felt more exposed while camping. The pond featured in the advertisement is right at camp and is a community one that neighbors enjoy walking through. When we got to camp, there were people yards from our camp doing estimates for redoing the area. With no working toilet, this was a huge problem. Not to mention, construction started both mornings at 7 am with construction workers and heavy machinery right beside us where we could see them and they saw us camping all day. This is NOT A SECLUDED spot. It feels exactly like camping in someone’s back yard where you can hear the highway starting at 5 am and people doing lawn work in the evenings when construction people and their noise would go away. Other than that I managed to get one tiki torch at night to light and no solar lights around the camp that were advertised, which my partner had chose this place for; a little extra lighting and that did not happen. Other than that, the picnic table provided was convenient, yet I could see into Oscar’s window and house so not ideal. He is very nice and very accommodating, but this was not at all what we hoped for or expected and the only reason we didn’t go home was all the effort we had put into being there.

Awesome Oasis
I had a wonderful time here. It truly is an oasis. Very private. Oscar was a wonderful host and offered a lot. The site is really well set up and he was very communicative the whole time. Would do again.

Amazing camp site
I had an amazing experience staying at this campsite! The host was incredible—super accommodating, attentive, and always available when needed, but also respectful of our privacy, which we really appreciated. The lake was beautiful with a small pond runoff, and there were so many fish! We caught bass and bluegill, and the water was shallow enough to wade out on warm days. Throughout the day, especially in the mornings, we saw deer wandering by, which added a special touch. The campsite itself was well equipped. There was a picnic table, a trash bin, and even some chairs you could use, which made things so convenient. We loved the campfire area, and the space for our tents was nicely secluded. There’s also a lovely trail around the lake and through the woods that made for a peaceful walk. Although we didn’t venture out much during our stay, the location is great—close to the city and lots of activities if you want to explore. Overall, it was a fantastic camping experience, and I highly recommend it!

Oscars' Oasis
We loved staying at Oscar’s. He was very friendly and the spot was secluded. The lake was so nice to take our kayaks on and the starts at night we’re amazing. I’d definitely recommend staying here!

Oscars' Oasis
This is a beautiful private setting with a lovely trail around the ponds. The water level was low but there is a canoe available. There was a great screened gazebo with a picnic table for our use as well as fishing poles and corn hole game. Unfortunately housekeeping issues were sorely neglected. Trash was full in the receptacle, the non composting toilet needed to be emptied, and there was an empty cartridge toilet and 5 gallon bucket strewn on the site.
