Hipcamp Best Camping Runner Up 2023 and 2024! Fall Sweet Fall! Book now and enjoy the privacy, the convenience, and the changing colors of Away at Green Hill. Entry point to western Boone County in Northern Kentucky, neighbor to Cincinnati, Indiana and the Ohio River, this 27 acre property marks a geographical change from rolling farmland to steep, forested hillsides. Our end-of-the road, ridgetop property means privacy. Our isolated campsites are surrounded by woods full of turkey, deer, owls, and woodpeckers. Onsite there are wide, easy strolling paths, a growing number of single-track hiking trails, open fields, and forest. And if not booked, a historic log home to explore and do some porch sitting. A great place for solo campers, friends, and families, whether newbies or experienced. Drive-in sites make unloading/loading easy peasey. Standard amenities include privacy - we only book two sites at any time, which are far apart from each other and surrounded by woods. Also, an exceptional outhouse, tables, fire rings, lanterns, Welcome kit (paper, fatwood, lighter, candle). And we have onsite firewood that can be purchased during booking or onsite purchase. Site 1 - Open Sky can accommodate the solo or the group. And it comes with extra amenities: a hammock, trampoline, badminton (spring, summer, fall). It's also closest to the cabin, strolling trails, firewood shed, and outhouse. Site 2 - Gobbler's Knob is a more cozy space - a small rise surrounded by forest. A short walk from the outhouse and firewood shed. It can accommodate pop-ups, small pull-behinds, tents, hammocks. Vehicles can park on site or park at site entrance, just 50'. Site 3 - Henry's Holler. By request only. For 4WD and overlanders only. Read site description in full before requesting. The choice is yours. Boating, kayaking, biking, hiking, museums or lazing about in a tiny riverfront town are minutes away, The curvy, scenic roads lead quickly out of the paved civilization of Union, Kentucky to us and onto the Rabbit Hash General Store, the Ohio River, the ferry to Indiana, the historic Dinsmore Homestead and State Nature Preserve, Middle Creek Park, and Big Bone State Park "Home to Modern Vertebrate Paleontology". Do nothing or do something.

Great camping experience!
Overlanding on this property was a dream! Private camp sites that have plenty of room! Restroom was very pleasant, wood availability is easy, welcome was great. There are fun hiking trails that lead you to an amazing log cabin, Mike had a lot of awesome history on it and I can’t express enough how cool it is!

2 Gobbler’s Knob
Peaceful, private and interesting
My normal local camping spot was closed for restoration and I was hoping to find a semi secluded and quiet spot for me and my dog to basically chill and do a little exploring. I was lucky to find Away at Green Hill where I stayed at Gobblers Knob. Terri was a great communicator and very helpful. The site was clean, spacious and provided plenty of privacy. For a small fee they will provide firewood and a fire starting kit. The site had a trail head that brought you around the property where you could explore the unique aspects to the property including a barn, an old cabin and a pond. which could all be booked as unique camp sites. They provided a pit toilet that was the nicest/cleanest one I have ever seen! I slept well in my tent and felt safe the whole time. I would definitely love to come back sometime, thanks again Teri!

3 - Henry's Holler
I originally reserved a different site but found out last minute that I had to change the dates. Teri was super accommodating and even opened up Henry's Holler early so I could still have a place to camp. The site is very private and comfortable with plenty of space. The property was lovely and fun to explore. I would definitely recommend staying here.

1 Open Sky
Open Sky
My group and I absolutely loved our stay at 1 open sky! Teri and Mike were great with communication and updates from the time I booked until the last day of our trip. Campsite was beautiful and felt very secluded. Exploring the trails and old log cabin was a blast, well maintained trails (even after a huge storm the week prior) trails marked, and the log cabin is a must see! Couldn't ask for hosts and property to spend our weekend camping. We will for sure be back!

2 Gobbler’s Knob
Nicely maintained, great location
Away at Green Hill was a perfect camping spot for our family of four! We were at Gobbler’s Knob and everything was prepared for us ahead of time including a welcome box with maps, a candle, bug spray and fire starter. I was worried that there would be downed trees because of the recent storm, but the property was cleared and it’s really nicely maintained with small lanterns placed at the entrance to the campsite paths. We loved following the Great Googly Moogly Trail to the historic house on the property and checking out the bison at Big Bone Lick State Park. Teri and Mike were great communicators and we’ll definitely be back!
