160 y/o six generation farm that has been documented and illustrated in both National Geographic and Picture magazines. Site of original log cabin. 20' deep spring fed pond excavated in 2010. 47 acres of trails,trees and wildlife.A 2022 Colorado Yurt Company 16x16 platform tent sits on a 23x16 raised deck overlooking a natural spring fed 1.3 acre pond. Carpeted tent with queen sleeps two. Additional couple can utilize their own tent or share the tent floor with their gear(additional queen floor air mattress available). Located on a 47 acre property you will have access to a common use restroom with shower,sink, toilet, fridge, freezer and microwave located 150 yds away. That space is for any visitors sharing the property as there is a "Cozy Cabin" that is also rentable as well as a pure campsite. All sites have a firepit w firewood and everything necessary to build your campfire. A firewood sauna will be built summer 24'. Spring fed pond is ideal for swimming with 4 kayaks and 2 paddle boards. Grill (bring charcoal) or fire pit for cooking. Abundant trails throughout property and scenic biking on local roadways. The renowned Breitbachs restaurant is two miles away. Dyersville(Field of Dreams), Dubuque and Guttenberg are within a 20-30 minute drive. If have 4WD and ground not wet can drive to site otherwise a gravel driveway will take you to the main bldg 150 yds away. Beautiful landscape and scenery await.

Our Stay in The Platform Tent

Helped us cart our luggage to our cabin via ATV, helped us start a fire, showed us around the land, super clean pond with clean paddle boards and floaties and friendly fish, tent was very clean with important supplies provided, the air mattress was also very clean, canvas tent stayed completely dry through the storm, bathroom was very clean and stocked and also had a shower as well, great hospitality and friendliness! We had such a calming time here and enjoyed the solitude with a lot of beautiful nature! We would recommend this place!

Mother nature's platform tent was exactly what we were looking for! The moment we arrived Jim showed us around the property and told us everything we needed to know. Also gave us a ride over to the tent with all of our belongings in his Polaris due to it being a bit muddy from the rain. The view from the tent overlooking the pond and the hills beyond it is a uniquely beautiful scene. We enjoyed swimming in said pond and cooking in the fire pit(once Jim helped us get the fire going). If you book a weekend here, you will not be disappointed!

Cozy cabin surrounded by nature

Due to weather we upgraded our stay to Jim’s cozy cabin and absolutely loved it. It was clean and equipped with everything we needed, only steps away from the main building with a clean bathroom, and dock access to the pond. The property itself was beautiful and full of hiking trails and wildlife. Jim is a thoughtful host, giving us a thorough overview of the property, setting up our fire pit, and even providing toothbrushes which we forgot at home. If you’re looking for the perfect camping or cabin getaway, this is it!

Absolutely wonderful place!!

I absolutely loved my stay - incredibly ! Jim was super helpful and insured everything was good. Bed was comfortable and I enjoyed looking out the tent each morning and night from the bed. Definitely returning!!

Fall Foliage trip

We loved our stay at Mother Nature's platform tent We were a little nervous at first to be staying at the Mother Nature's platform tent, since we were some of the first folks staying there, but we were pleasantly surprised when we got there! Mother Nature's platform tent was the perfect getaway for us and well worth the drive. Our accommodation was newly renovated, had a rustic charm, and had everything that we needed, and then some. Jim was also incredibly welcoming, helpful, friendly, and communicative throughout the whole process. Right away, when we got there, Jim showed us around and answered our questions. The surrounding property was quiet, beautiful, and scenic up in the (wherever we were) with plenty to do — we even got to feed the fish nearby! We would definitely love to make our way back. Oh, and pro tip, try the dandelion wine 🙂
