Nance had options for private/semi private sites, which was great. We chose the site near her garden which felt like a little cozy spot. The land is beautiful to explore, so many birds! We walked the trails, took bike rides to the butterfly farm and walked about.
Sites are rustic, to minimize impact on the land. We appreciated the community kitchen, hammocks to relax in and overlook the prairie.
Had a great stay here! Nance was a great host and the land was really beautiful! What made it work so well for me is the fact that it's about 1/4 mile away from the Jane Addams trail.
Pachamanka Prairie & Woodlands is a treasure in historic Stevenson County just a stones throw from the Butterfly Farm and Jane Addams Trail. I camped during the fall when the colors peaked and the wildlife was bustling preparing for winter. The land and the host are fantastic. Be respectful and reconnect with nature just a two hour drive from Chicago.
Incredibly beautiful land! Some of the best bird watching I've experienced. Nance was great!
