Small Avalon Cabin
We loved our weekend at Wolford Wood! There was a real off-grid feel to the place, with its long wild meadows and woods, and a friendly vibe from the owners and the other campers. The cabins are cosy and comfortable, with vintage bedding and mod coms including a lamp and power sockets. Best things; the outdoor kitchens, the firepits and outdoor seating, and the completely adorable pigs in a field full of outdoor toys and games - swing ball was a big hit. Thank you Daisy... We'll be back!

Wolford Wood
Pros: beautiful meadow spacious setting, stunning woodland, lots of tables and chairs near outdoor kitchen, lovely long grass helps your pitch feel private, well kept communal areas, covered areas with table and chairs for rainy moments, woodland bits you can camp in, great balance of sociable but private feel to the camping, friendly piggies and chickens, fantastic showers and toilets, wheelbarrows for kit, fridge and kettle and mugs!!!, very friendly host and welcome, fire pits allowed and rentable, no cars in camp field - all these things are great. Cons: it would be good if there had been just a few mown paths through the wildflower meadow to help with wheelbarrows and access for this members of the family who are less sure footed. Don’t think it would detract from wonderful tall grass meadow. Would also mean people don’t end up walking so close to other peoples tents (which happens as you tend to follow stomped paths!). Would also be good to be able to pay a surcharge to leave your rubbish there. Helpful Feedback: the Hipcamp listing should have move photos showing the range of wonderful camping, and more pics of the beautiful meadow, and pics of tents and fire pits etc (it’s rather over emphasises the cabins at the moment!)

Wolford Wood
Lovely relaxed site, but long grass
Lovely relaxed site with good facilities and some friendly pigs to scratch. The camping is in a meadow which is unmown, so the grass is thigh-high. A few areas had been squashed down by previous campers, but when we arrived none of these were free, so we had to set up the tent and our 'living space' outside the tent on the tall grass, which some of our party didn't like due to having to walk through the long grass to get too and from the tent. I appreciate the benefits of nature but as a campsite I think it would be better if there were some mown pitches.

Cotswold Falconry Centre is a 10-minute drive away, an exciting and educational day out for the family. There are daily flying displays featuring the centre's birds of prey, along with aviaries you can wander around, and plenty of birds occupying the surrounding skies including peregrine falcons, sparrowhawks, and buzzards. Family fun continues at All Things Wild, a park with plenty of attractions including a variety of animals from zebra, to monkeys, to reptiles, and a dinosaur exhibit that the little ones will live. Alternatively, adults will enjoy a stroll around the beautiful gardens of Bourton House, featured on the BBC's Gardeners' World and with a gorgeous topiary walk to embark on.

Food and drink

The pleasant market town of Moreton-on-Marsh is a 10-minute drive from the site, with a bunch of popular pubs providing a drink and a bite to eat. The Black Bear Inn is located in the heart of the town, a lively part of the local community with a beer garden for drinks in the sun and a roaring open fire for the evening.  You'll find sizeable and well-presented classic pub meals here – the steak and ale pie comes recommended. Make it an impromptu pub crawl by walking down to the award-winning Redesdale Arms, boasting an upmarket restaurant that blends international cooking with traditional British favourites, and concluding at the Inn on the Marsh, a good old-fashioned pub with straightforward food and eclectic decor.
