Curvy cabins with hot tubs on an expansive farm in the Oxfordshire countryside

Two cabins on a 200-acre farm in Oxfordshire make for one very nice place to stay at Sleep Wild. Set just outside the Cotswolds, the landscape shares its characteristics with that nearby area of natural beauty but, here, there’s added interest too. The green fields and rolling hills are punctuated with racehorses grazing peacefully in their paddocks. This is Cropredy Lawns, part farm, part racehorse training ground – with a wildflower meadow set aside for glamping guests. Staying here feels like a real privilege. Not just because you’re given a glimpse of this rural way of life but because of the accommodation itself. Everything about this pair of cabins is quality: from the White Company linen on the beds to the farm-shop produce in the hampers, which are available as an optional extra.

Each of the cabins is self contained with an en-suite shower, toilet, and a kitchenette. Each has furniture, fixtures, and fabrics that might rival yours at home. And there’s a log burner to make it cosy too. It’s all been put together by host, Ku, who has an eye for style and a knack for hospitality. She tells us she is no fan of traditional camping in tents and has crafted the cabins as places that she’d like to stay, which explains their hotel-room chic. But the name exists because it is a wild-ish setting; somewhere you can enjoy the outdoors. To help you do just that, there are deckchairs and a fire pit, a gas barbecue, and a wood-fired hot tub. Use them and you'll be able to watch butterflies flitting about the meadow and hear skylarks singing as they hover above you. You may even spot a deer.

Plenty of people come here to simply enjoy the view by day, the stars by night and the peacefulness of the setting. Some are happy to enjoy local adventures like walking cross-country to Cropredy to eat at the recommended local pub. Others come to visit the area’s stately homes, to explore villages in the Cotswolds and to visit well-to-do towns like Stratford-upon-Avon. Whatever you’re visiting for, this is a rather lovely place to sleep wild – and to do that in a rather luxurious way.

First glamping experiance for us & although not the best time of year ( March & snow predicted) we were very impresssed from start to finish . Booking was easy via Hidcamp, then the owner Ku emailed us with welcome and information details. On arival greeted by host & shown around our Glamping Pod, wood burner, hot tub- instuctions etc . This has obviously been put together with attention to detail & to a high standard resulting in a luxurious little vactation home. We hope to return when the weather is more on our side, but there are loads of local walks & plenty to do . Our thanks to Ku and Paul

Sleep Wild
We had a wonderful visit at Sleep Wild Glamping : ) It was the best way to end a hectic summer- dare I say we even came home rested! The kids especially loved the hot tub- and may even have gained some water confidence in there! Kitted out with much love and care and top quality, we will be back!

Sleep Wild in complete comfort in these two luxurious cabins surrounded by a wild flower meadow. Wake up to stunning views of the Oxfordshire countryside, horses grazing in the paddocks and the sound of skylarks overhead. Stroll around the grass tracks on the farm, see the racehorses on the gallops or walking home after work, alternatively hook up with the public foot path that runs through our farm. This leads to Cropredy village or Claydon in the other direction. There are lovely walks along the towpath of the Oxford Canal which can be joined in Cropredy, alternatively hook up with the Jurassic way or the Battlefields Trail. Or just stay put and relax in the Sleep Wild site, take in the views, soak under the stars in your hot tub or cook something delicious on the fire pit or barbecue. You may catch a glimpse of our resident hares and wild fallow deer and for any ornithologists there is plenty of bird life The Cabins Everything has been carefully considered and beautifully designed to help our guests slow down and switch off. Both have electricity and hot water - think tiny hotel room in the wild. Here is what to expect in your cabin: A double ottoman bed with storage underneath; crisp cotton bed linen, feather duvets and pillows; a double sofa bed, comfy as a sofa or can be pulled out to sleep 2 more at a squeeze; stylish table lamps; en-suite shower and loo, fully equipped kitchenette with two electric hobs; a good sized fridge, a small table with tuck in stools and a wood burning stove. You will also find ordnance survey maps giving the local footpaths and bridleways, playing cards, books and a backgammon set. Outside you will find: A large area of decking; a wood-fired hot tub, outdoor table and chairs; a small gas barbecue; a fire pit and deck chairs. All crockery, cooking utensils, pots and pans are provided. We provide a generous starter pack of fire wood and fire lighters, extra wood can be purchased. Food Hampers and Local Pubs We provide a variety of food hampers for breakfast and barbecuing. All ingredients are fresh and locally sourced from the farm shop at Warmington. Eggs are from our own free range chickens. Homemade cakes and cream teas are also available, all orders for hampers or cakes must be made at least three days before your visit. Alternatively here are some suggestions of local pubs/restaurants: The Brazenose Arms in Cropredy, this is a 20-25 minute walk via the public footpath that can be picked up on our farm. Other local pubs include The Castle at Edge Hill, The Falcon at Warmington, The George and Dragon at Chacombe, or The Bell at Ladbroke. Being on the edge of the Cotswolds there are plenty of lovely villages and towns to visit: Stow on the Wold, Burford, Chipping Campden, Chipping Norton are a few of many. Daylesford, Jeremy Clarkson’s farm shop and Soho Farmhouse are within easy reach. There are quite a few Historic Houses and gardens in the area: Farnborough Hall, Upton House, Cannons Ashby, Warwick Castle to name just a few. Alternatively we can point you in the direction of the local golf courses, riding schools, clay pigeon shooting or even llama trecking.
Nearby attractions

If you’re interested in horses and horseracing, you might like to book in a tour of the gallops with host, Paul, to see racehorses in training. And if you’ve come with your own horse (stabling is available here) you can ride on the grass tracks around the farm’s fields or out on local bridleways. Aston Le Walls Eventing Centre is also six miles down the road. There are horse-riding lessons available at Valley Farm Riding School, three miles away too. There’s a footpath through the farm which offers a route out into the countryside – to the village of Cropredy in one direction and to Claydon in the other. Both are a little over a mile away. There are, of course, plenty more pretty villages to explore in the nearby Cotswolds: Stow on the Wold, Chipping Norton and Daylesford (where Jeremy Clarkson’s farm shop is) are all within 25 miles. Banbury is the closest town, less than 15 minutes drive, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick with its famous castle and Leamington Spa are about half-an-hour away and Oxford is about a 50-minute drive. Upton House and Gardens is one of a number of stately homes that are open to the public close by, a 15-minute drive from site. Closer still, but only open in the summer season, is Farnborough Hall.

Food and drink

You can pre-order barbecue and breakfast hampers for your stay at the time of booking. All the ingredients for these are locally sourced with eggs fresh from the farm and other produce from a farm shop in nearby Warmington. If you want more of the same, you can head to the farm shop, Carpenter’s yourself – it’s just four miles from site and is well stocked with its own butchers, cheese counter and lots more. You can also order cream teas and cakes, by special arrangement. For a drink or a meal out, you can walk to Cropredy in 20-25 minutes on a footpath that passes through the farm (or drive there in under five minutes) where there’s a good cafe, The Mulberry, and a choice of pubs. The Brasenose is recommended by your hosts. It has both a bar and garden menu and a restaurant menu too. Other recommended options are The Falcon in Warmington (four miles), The George and Dragon in Chacombe (four miles) and The Rose and Crown in Ratley (five miles).
