If you’re interested in horses and horseracing, you might like to book in a tour of the gallops with host, Paul, to see racehorses in training. And if you’ve come with your own horse (stabling is available here) you can ride on the grass tracks around the farm’s fields or out on local bridleways. Aston Le Walls Eventing Centre is also six miles down the road. There are horse-riding lessons available at Valley Farm Riding School, three miles away too. There’s a footpath through the farm which offers a route out into the countryside – to the village of Cropredy in one direction and to Claydon in the other. Both are a little over a mile away. There are, of course, plenty more pretty villages to explore in the nearby Cotswolds: Stow on the Wold, Chipping Norton and Daylesford (where Jeremy Clarkson’s farm shop is) are all within 25 miles. Banbury is the closest town, less than 15 minutes drive, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick with its famous castle and Leamington Spa are about half-an-hour away and Oxford is about a 50-minute drive. Upton House and Gardens is one of a number of stately homes that are open to the public close by, a 15-minute drive from site. Closer still, but only open in the summer season, is Farnborough Hall.
