An exclusive-hire tipi site in the Kent countryside

Get down to earth and away from it all with a stay at the Rebel Farmer Tipi, which stands proudly on a small permaculture farm in a beautiful part of Kent. Located in the rural village of Brook, this majestic 21-foot tent forms the basis of an exclusive-hire glamping site – though it’s not quite on its own. Next to it is its canvas little brother; The Rebel Farmer Bell Tent. Hire the tipi for your family and you have the option to rent the bell tent for your friends. But other than that, you won’t have to share this special spot with anybody – except the birds, the bees, and the Rebel Farmer himself.

That farmer is Ed. He moved here with his family to start growing food sustainably and ethically, using no-dig permaculture principles. You’ll see, and perhaps sample, the evidence of that during your stay on this tiny but productive farm. While two of its three acres are given over to growing micro-greens, salad leaves, and heritage tomatoes, the final acre has been shared. It’s in this green and leafy meadow that you’ll find the tipi and the tent. Both are kitted out for a family of up to five; with a proper double bed for parents and trundle beds for kids. It’s a magical setting which gets more enchanting as evening falls thanks to fire and fairylights.

The tents are off grid, relying on solar energy for those twinkly lights, but there’s power in a polytunnel where you can get undercover if it rains. A table with benches and blankets provides a place to eat and play games. A rustic kitchen counter houses more home comforts than you might imagine (fridge, toaster, kettle and a microwave). Outside, there’s a compost loo and shower.

Beyond this rebellious little farm, the Kent Downs beckon. A walk up to see the far-reaching views from the nearby Devil’s Kneading Trough is almost obligatory and a wander down to the buzzy neighbouring village of Wye seems a good idea. But if that’s not enough adventure for your visit, you’re only 20 minutes’ drive from Canterbury and the coast.

Rebel Farmer Glamping is an exclusive-hire campsite in Kent, the Garden of England. The rural location is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. We are also in easy reach of the coastal stops of Folkestone, Rye, Deal, Whitstable. Our closest beach is Hythe which is a 20 minute drive. When you book our site, its all yours! However, if you book the Rebel Farmer Tipi, you can also add a second tipi and or another the bell tent should you wish. Expect the same high standards of furnishings inside across all three tents. Proper beds and plenty of space. Main tipis are both suitable for a family of 2 adults + 2 or 3 children. Bell Tent has a double and single as standard but more beds can be added on request at extra charge. To book 1, 2 or 3 - start on here by booking the one Tipi tent to secure the site, then contact us to add another 1 or 2 tents to your booking. Discounts are available when booking more than 1 tent.

Unwind!
A perfect spot to relax and unwind! Great facilities - full covered camp kitchen and condiments, compost loo and shower and a super cosy, spacious and comfortable tipi! Everything you could need and very easy to reach - from London to Ashford and a 15 min cab. The site itself is serene, surrounded by trees and a beautiful view to the nearby mountain. There’s a large fire pit and bbq and plenty of space to stretch out and run around. Best of all was the welcome we received from the owners - they couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming - lovely people doing good things! Loved our stay and will be booking again v soon.

In the Garden of England, our exclusive-use campsite is part of a 3 acre small-scale ethical farm. The 21ft tipi comfortably sleeps 5 based on 2 adults (double) and 3 children (singles). We also have an additional tipi (from June) and extra bell tent both sleeping 4/5 which you may book along side the tipi. Expect proper beds and hot showers and glorious countryside relaxation! Groups of adults will need to contact us in advance of booking to ensure our facilities suit your needs.
Nearby attractions

Rebel Farmer Tipi is in the village of Brook in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The hills (the Downs) are a lovely place for a walk with a network of footpaths leading up and across them including national trail, The North Downs Way, which is well signposted and leads to spectacular viewpoint, The Devil’s Kneading Trough. The historic village of Wye is worth a mooch about and the historic city of Canterbury, with its World Heritage-listed cathedral is 12 miles away. It’s a similar distance to the coast at Hythe where there’s a shingle beach or the busy town of Folkestone where there’s a sandy stretch as well as shingle. Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is nine miles away and the little trains of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway can be boarded down in Hythe.

Food and drink

There’s almost always some salad leaves ready for picking in the Polydiner – and it doesn’t get fresher than that! For more supplies head to Wye where there’s a butchers and deli, a Co-op and a farmers’ market on the first and third Saturday mornings of the month. It’s also the closest place to head to for a meal out, thanks to a cafe, an Indian restaurant and a choice of three pubs: The New Flying Horse, The Kings Head and The Tickled Trout which has a riverside garden.
