Walltree House Camping is located on the grounds of the titular stone farmhouse, now a B&B in the English countryside of Northamptonshire. In the same acre or so of land as the farmhouse is its campsite, providing a laid-back rural getaway that happens to be a stone's throw away from a slew of adrenaline-pumping activities.
Walltree House Camping's pitches are mown into the grass in a sociable manner; kept in clusters of three where campers share access to a firepit and picnic table for those long evenings of roasting marshmallows. A rustic, wood-clad bathroom cabin provides modern amenities, from washing-up facilities to those all-important hot showers. And, if you're in a group with people who don't like camping, there's also a guest house with en-suite bedrooms.
Along with its sociable camping clusters, what also makes Walltree House stand out for families is its proximity to lively activities. Hinton Airfield is less than a two-minute walk away from the site – you can go skydiving, take on a gliding flight experience and or even try your hand at their pilot training. There's paintball on the farm, too, so thrill-seekers can run riot through the woods and perhaps have a shoot out with those people in the group who said they didn't like camping. It all lends a surprisingly active buzz to this very peaceful plot of land.
And this land isn't just used for camping — the openness of its field also means it's used for events. Walltree House's one-and-a-quarter acres can be transformed into an area for marquees, teepee tents, stages and more, with friendly host, Rachel, happy to accommodate any special occasion, showcasing the versatility of the land. There aren't many places where you can go camping, jump out of a plane and host a concert all in the same place. But, then, Walltree isn't like most places.
