Back-to-basics camping on a Dorset farm with a party vibe at weekends

Bredy Farm offers camping for over 18s on a Dorset farm that’s close to the coast. Situated at the heart of the Bride Valley, campers are within a half-hour walk of the beach and can choose to camp on either side of the River Bride. One side, The Orchard, sees smaller tents and campervans pitched up among fruit trees while the other, The Mead, is more open. It’s better for larger vehicles and larger groups too. Those are most definitely welcome here – in fact it’s groups and music lovers who will like this easy-going campsite the most. It has its own bar, The Cider Shed, and on the weekends, there’s live music and DJs in The Rattle Shack, where you can dance in a barn until 2am.

For those who don’t like to be shushed on a campsite, this could be the place for you. There’s a quiet-time but, without kids around, it starts at midnight which gives you plenty of time to catch up around the campfire. And, of course, there’s always the bar. Camping is a pitch-where-you-please arrangement and facilities in the field are basic: just a few composting and portable loos but there’s more a short walk away. Flushing toilets and pay-as-you-go hot water showers can be found in the farmyard. Campfires are allowed in off-ground fire pits and there are a few availabl but it’s a good idea to bring your own. Though if you don’t fancy campfire cooking, the on-site Parlour restaurant offers good coffee, good Italian food and good Sunday roasts as well.

At its heart, Bredy is still a working farm. It may have diversified into camping, food, drink and festivals (those are held on three weekends a year) but it’s surrounded by fields of cows and sheep. There are gorgeous views and quiet lanes leading to farm shops and country pubs – as well as footpaths that take you to Dorset’s beautiful Jurassic coast. Come in the week for peace and quiet or at the weekend for a rurally good time. Or, perhaps even better, stay for a full week to experience both sides of Bredy Farm.

If you book one of our 2024 Festivals through Hipcamp your booking includes the ticket price.

The Orchard (Over 18's)
Over 18 camping at The Orchard
We loved the 18+ campsite "The Orchard". Beautiful setting. The Cider House bar is fantastic for late night dancing, blazing fire pit, "Sweet Jesus " Cider ! The camping toilets are challenging after a day (there was a Cider Music Festival on! ) so probably didn't help. The DJing, music doesn't stop until after 3am so can be challenging if you looking for good night sleep!!

The Orchard (Over 18's)
Lovely, quirky site with plenty of character - very relaxed and friendly but well run. I loved being able to choose where to pitch up. Having the stream, with shallow banks, towas perfect for my dog. I will definitely be returning and will recommend to friends.

The Mead (over 18's)
Great camp. Weekends I’d steer clear if you don’t wanna be kept up or don’t wanna get involved. The facilities are what you’d expect of a busy camp no thrills but do able. All this said I had a great time just heads up for the older couples who book Friday/saturday

Pitch where you like. The Mead is suitable for larger groups and vehicles such as motorhomes and caravans. The Orchard is suitable for smaller camper vans & tents. We provide some fire pits free of charge but recommend to bring your own. We sell bags of logs from The Cider Shed which is open until 2am at weekends. FESTIVAL DATES - If you book through Hipcamp it includes your ticket cost. BeCider Seaside 18 (24th-26th of May) Bredy Reunion (11th-113th of July) & BeCider Seaside 19 (23rd-25th of August)
Nearby attractions

Bredy Farm is within the designated Dorset National Landscape, a mile-and-a-half from the Dorset village of Burton Bradstock. You can head for the beach there or go slightly further east to Hive Beach, which is the closest place to reach the coast if you want to walk. It takes about 25 minutes on local footpaths – or five minutes in the car. These both form part of the famous, 18-mile long Chesil Beach and are part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, all linked by the South West Coast Path National Trail. If you’re interested in looking for fossils, perhaps head slightly further to Charmouth (11 miles) or Lyme Regis (14 miles). Abbotsbury Swannery and Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens (seven miles) are other nearby places to visit and sit at the end of the Fleet Lagoon. The market town of Bridport is just four miles from the farm.

Food and drink

One of the benefits of staying at Bredy Farm is the food and drink that’s on offer. Talbot Harris Co. makes cider from Dorset apples right here on the farm and it’s served up alongside the company’s own IPA in The Cider Shed every day – and until 2am on weekends. The farm is also host to The Parlour, a restaurant serving coffee and cake throughout the day and Italian meals at lunch and dinner. On Sundays, a roast is also on offer. It’s popular so book ahead. If you’re spending the day on Hive Beach, there’s a beachside cafe which specialises in fish and seafood and the closest pub is the Three Horseshoes down in Burton Bradstock (less than two miles). You’ll also find a convenience store in the village but the closest shop, just half a mile down the lane, is Modbury Farm Shop which stocks lots of farm-fresh produce and local organic goodies too.
