Treehouses, lodges, and an Airstream, a mile from South Devon's River Dart.

There’s no roughing it in Dittisham Hideaway, a Devonshire glampsite where couples and families can escape in luxurious treehouses, cosy shepherd's lodges, or a vintage reclaimed American Airstream. Located on the outskirts of Dittisham, a riverside village known as one of the prettiest places to visit in South Devon, the site's secluded nine acres are also only a short drive away from Dartmouth.

Dittisham Hideaway's treehouses are its focal point, tucked away in a wooded valley and elevated for views across the treetops. On sunny days you'll surely spend most of your time on the spacious furnished decking, lazing in the hammock, or taking a dip in the wood-fired hot tub. The kids can be kept occupied with the outdoor table football and chess sets, while the adults can cook up a storm on the barbecue before relaxing on the sun loungers. Inside, the treehouses replicate the feel of a luxury hotel with their underfloor heating, Egyptian cotton bed linen, and en-suite bathrooms with power showers, while a welcome hamper with West Country produce awaits all guests.

Couples can also stay in the Airstream or one of the site's various shepherd's lodges. The former is a vintage trailer built in the '50s, and while it retains its retro charms, it's also been modernised with additions such as a smart TV and sound system, WiFi, and a well-equipped kitchenette that includes all of your necessities. It's also positioned on its own private decking and boasts its own hot tub, along with seating for al fresco dining.

The shepherd's lodges are much larger than you'd see elsewhere – big enough to welcome your four-legged friends – and their position in the wildflower meadow gives you immediate access to a variety of lovely walks, not to mention the various public footpaths that run throughout the local neighbourhood. For further exploration of the area, you're less than a mile away from the River Dart where you can go kayaking or paddleboarding, and at its mouth is the quiet Sugary Cove beach for a day by the sea.

Pheasant Treehouse
Overall had a lovely stay and the welcome treats are wonderful ☺️ the hot tub needs some attention as the foot step up is very loose and looks like it will fall off soon which is a bit dangerous. Could have done with sanitary bags in the toilets and bin liners in the toilet bins.

Shepherds Lodge with adjoining hut
Exceptional!
An exceptional and peaceful stay at the Beech Hut with my mum. Everything has been designed and curated to the highest standard- the workmanship of the hut itself along with the luxurious interior all sourced from local artisans! We had a meal outside around the firepit and a big walk on the nearby coastal path, Salcombe to Torcruss. Very attentive hosts! We will be back, thank you so much!

Shepherds Lodges
Great trip!
We booked the Cedar Shepherd's hut, and the host had really thought of everything! Our dog Norman thoroughly enjoyed the dog treats, the complimentary Sloe gin (which my partner said was very tasty) and the welcome hamper with tea/coffee, bread, milk, Prosecco too! It was a lovely touch. We used the outdoor bath - just be sure to give yourself plenty of time for it to heat up. If you have a dog with you - I recommend heading to Bantham Beach as there is a dog-friendly section where you can let your pooch off the lead and enjoy running around with all the other dogs! We also popped into Dartmouth for some dinner and ice cream, everything is very close to the site so you don't really need to drive too far!

An enchanting collection of Treehouses, Shepherd's Lodges and a vintage American Airstream. Experience luxury and charm in the heart of the Devonshire countryside. Just a mile from the waters' edge of the beautiful River Dart, overlooking a private sun-dappled wooded valley, sits the stunning Dittisham Hideaway. The Hideaway is just outside the picturesque village of Dittisham, and is just a 10-minute drive from the scenic port of Dartmouth in South Devon. We have prepared a hamper to settle you in, packed with some treats, enough for welcome tea/coffee & nibbles, with the inclusion of bread, butter & Jam. As well as a complimentary bottle of wine for you to enjoy on a warm sunny afternoon or cosy winter evening by the fire.
