A unique glamping pod with a hot tub and views of the Uffington White Horse

Cowleaze Farm offers glamping with impressive views between The Cotswolds and the North Wessex Downs. Book a stay here and you’ll have your own glamping hideaway in view of the enigmatic Uffington White Horse. You can ponder its Bronze Age origins as you sit on the deck or sink into the wood-fired hot tub outside your pod. Or perhaps you prefer to pull on your walking boots and hike to see this chalky hillside landmark up close? However you spend your time here, the pod at Cowleaze Farm is a lovely little self-contained getaway that’s well equipped for a weekend in the country.

It sits in a secluded spot within the grounds of your host’s farmhouse garden, overlooking a veg patch and a paddock that you’re welcome to explore. In the summer the paddock is filled with wildflowers and a pathway is mown for you to meander through them. But whenever you come this well-built, bespoke glamping pod or cabin offers a comfortable indoor-outdoor place to stay. The campfire and hot tub are tempting even in cooler weather and it’s always warm indoors thanks to a log-burning stove. There’s a cosy, raised double bed with a window at its foot giving views to the hills and the horse. You have a little kitchenette with a gas hob, a kitchen sink and a fridge – and there’s an en suite shower and flushing loo too. Staying here is about as easy as glamping comes. The bed is made up for you and towels are provided as well.

In fact, Katy and Mark, your hosts, even get the wood-burning hot tub started so you can relax as soon as you arrive. They’ll welcome you before leaving you to enjoy the peace and quiet of the place. And that may be all you want to do while you’re here but there’s plenty to explore if you want to. Swindon’s nearby, Marlborough’s not far and Oxford is a half-hour drive away. North Wessex and The Cotswolds both offer great walking, great country pubs, lovely villages and plenty of historic sites – starting with the one you can see out the window.

Our Veg Patch Pod is a bespoke and unique self-built fully self sufficient glamping unit. Enjoy peace and quiet in the privacy of our paddock, adjacent to our home. Enjoy the views of the Ridgeway and Uffington White Horse whilst laying in bed or from the bubbles of our wood-fired hot tub. Snuggle up in front of the log burner or around the purpose built campfire.

Veg Patch Pod
Lovely property in a great area of the Uk. Perfect place to base yourself and explore the area. The property itself is very homely. Very comfy bed, good shower and a little fireplace to add to the whole feel. Don’t make the same mistake I did and not leave enough time to truly enjoy this property. Work into your holiday enough time to spend more time here!

Veg Patch Pod
We enjoyed the little house though what we really wanted was to enjoy the hot tub there was not sufficient wood to keep us going for the two days that we paid to have the hot tub and we used it at night time when we got there next day we couldn’t even use it because we’ve got The wood in the afternoon would’ve been nice to have breakfast in the hot tub so for improvement a lot more wood champagne beautiful but no ice cubes champagne wouldn’t fit in the freezer so it was A bit of a disappointment but I am sure you can improve all this mayby a cover on top of the hot tub when it rains and something about that mad even some sticks on top of it so when you walk in the little house it doesn’t dirty everything it’s a shame that we were one of the first ones and our main thing was the hot tub but I am sure in future it will be wonderful

Our farmhouse sits on 1.5 acres of land and is surrounded by farmland on the southern edge of the Cotswolds. We are a rural location but within easy reach of Oxford, Swindon and Faringdon The glamping pod sits next to the veg patch, overlooking our paddock which is bursting with wildflowers and long grasses in summer months. The pod boast unencumbered views of the Uffington White Horse and it's South facing vistas capture beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We are next to walking, cycling and horse riding routes up to the White Horse and along the ridgeway and both the Cotswolds and Ridgeway are areas of outstanding natural beauty. Of specific interest is Waylands Smithy (within walking distance) The Tythe Barn at Great Coxwell and many other historic sites.
Nearby attractions

The views from your pod at Cowleaze Farm showcase some of the local highlights: beautiful countryside with fascinating ancient sites. Top of the list is the Uffington White Horse, which dates from the Bronze Age. You can find out more about it and other local history at Tom Brown’s School Museum in Uffington, about a mile from the farm. There are plenty of local footpaths and bridleways in the countryside around the farm if you want to explore and The Ridgeway National Trail passes along the top of White Horse Hill. You could use it to head a mile west to see another impressive ancient site, Waylands Smithy neolithic long barrow. It’s all part of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape where you’ll also find the World Heritage-listed Avebury stone circle (25 miles) and the market town of Marlborough (20 miles). It’s a similar distance into the Cotswolds with the pretty villages of Bibury and Burford both just 20 miles from site. The Cotswolds Wildlife Park and Gardens is a similar distance and Oxford is just a little further.

Food and drink

There’s a village shop in Uffington (one mile) for basics and a handy Co-op supermarket in Watchfield, three miles from the farm. For a meal out, there are three pubs within walking distance: The King and Queen in Longcot (two miles), The Fox and Hounds in Uffington and The White Horse in Woolstone (just over a mile). But for a really good meal out, your hosts recommend going a little further to The Greyhound in Letcombe Regis (eight miles).
