Glamping with a hot tub and an outdoor cinema in the Lincolnshire countryside

Country Bumpkins glamping site gives you the chance to get out in the countryside whilst also living it up. This site in rural Lincolnshire offers use of a hot tub and a cinema under the stars—in addition to comfy places to stay that are kitted out with oodles of charm. Bunting and fairy lights set the scene within this enchanting encampment, where you can choose between bell tents, a geo-desic dome, and a chalet caravan. The setting, 20 minutes south of Lincoln and an hour from Nottingham, offers an easy escape to the country from anywhere in the East Midlands

It’s only the geodesic dome (known as “The Igloo”) which is set up specifically for two but there’s definitely a romantic feel to the place and any of the accommodation could work well for a couple. But families are also welcome, especially in the chalet, which sleeps up to five in three bedrooms and has its own shower and loo. The others share facilities (two showers, two loos, and a bath) in a lodge which also includes a kitchen and lounge—which are the perfect place to hide out on rainy days. And, then of course, there's the all-important hot tub and outdoor cinema screen. This is usually fired up on Saturday nights for movies under the stars. The hot tub is yours for a private session—just book your slot in advance.

There's also a communal fire pit and barbecue area and bikes are available to hire as well. They offer the perfect way to explore the area’s quiet lanes. Use them to get to Wellingore and Navenby, the closest villages, where there are two pubs, and a lovely cafe which offers highly-recommended ice creams. There’s also a tiny domestically-sized museum, Mrs Smith’s Cottage, which, like Country Bumpkins glamping, is just about as charming as it sounds.

We loved our stay here together, and made beautiful memories as a family that will last a lifetime. Laura is one of the most person centred, approachable and kind hosts I have ever experienced. She is so easy to talk to and has thought of so many cute details that make you smile on the inside whilst being with company you love… it really is the little things, a fire pit, pretty fairy lights, pretty flower placements, or chocolate to share on an outdoor movie night together. We would love to return, all round heartfelt smiles from us.

Nearby attractions

Country Bumpkins glamping site is located in the Lincolnshire countryside near the connected villages of Wellingore and Navenby (two miles). You can hire bikes on site to explore the surrounding countryside or set out on foot. There are plenty of footpaths including one along the route of Ermine Street, the route of the Roman Road that once connected London with Lincoln and York. There’s a small museum, Mrs Smith’s Cottage, in Navenby which belonged to a Navenby woman born in 1892 and who lived to be 102. The cottage is much as it was in the 1800s. There’s more history at Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre (10 miles) which commemorates the RAF squadron who were stationed there during the Second World War. Lincoln, with its cathedral, is 10 miles from the site and the attractive town of Woodhall Spa is about 15 miles away. There’s an old school cinema there and an open air swimming pool too.

Food and drink

It’s only two miles from Country Bumpkins to the twin villages of Wellingore and Navenby where you're spoilkt for choice when it comes to food. For a pub lunch or dinner, The King's Head, in Navenby, is highly recommended. T-bone steaks are a speciality on the a la carte menu. But there's also The Marquis of Granby and The Red Lion in Wellingore and The Lion and Royal for pub classics. Or perhaps head for lunch, afternoon tea or an ice cream, The Old Filling Station. It also offers cocktails and tapas too on weekend evenings. There’s a village shop at the garage in Wellingore and a small Co-op in Navenby. Navenby also has a choice of takeaways.
