Glamping in the Suffolk countryside, not far from seaside Felixstowe

It's all eclectic at Cosy Camping Suffolk. Like your favourite box of assorted chocolates. There's traditional camping in a four acre field. A couple of pre-pitched bell tents. Spacious, en-suite, glamping pods. And the chance to sleep in a converted gain silo, which, from the outside has its original, wavy, tin-clad appearance, but inside is a truly comfortable place to stay, with two floors, a double bed, a kitchen, and an en-suite bathroom. Which of these delicious treats you choose is up to you.

The Grain Silo and the glamping pods are so well furnished they almost feel closer to self-catering than they do to the world of camping but they still have a real connection to the great outdoors. They're sited in amongst the camping and bell tent pitches and each have their own picnic table and that essential fire pit for your late night campfire.

You’ll find all these cosy camping options ten miles past Ipswich and five miles before the seaside at Felixstowe, not far off the A14 which connects them. It’s a handy location for anyone who wants to visit either, or both, while enjoying the Suffolk countryside that lies between the River Debden and the Orwell. Here, on site, you’re right in among it, as the campsite is part of an arable farm which has been in the same family for more than 80 years. You can walk or cycle to the local pub on quiet lanes, you can visit a lavender farm just down the road and you can pick your own fruit at the local farm shop a few miles away. But it’s also only a 15-minute drive to the beach at Felixstowe.

Great Experience
With kids ·
First ‘glamping’ experience with our two children and we couldn’t have wished for anything more. Location is peaceful and the pod was immaculately clean. We all loved being able to have a camp fire! Beki was a great host- very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Little touches like milk in the fridge/ hot chocolate sachets make a lovely first impression. We will definitely be returning.

Nearby attractions

Cosy Camping Suffolk is on the edge of the village of Bucklesham, 10 miles from Ipswich and five miles from Felixstowe where you’ll find the closest beach, amusements, gardens, shops and eateries. The riverside market town of Woodbridge is seven miles from site. There’s a lavender farm just along the road and plenty of riverside and countryside walks and cycling routes. For mountain bikers, Twisted Oaks Bike Park and Trails offer off-road cycling a mile away. Jimmy’s Farm, with its wildlife and eateries, is seven miles away.

Food and drink

There’s a small shop in the reception building at Cosy Camping Suffolk selling camping basics or, for local produce, head to the well-stocked Goslings Farm Shop (four miles). In season, you may find the opportunity to pick your own strawberries and other fruit there too and there’s a cafe for breakfasts, lunches and coffee and cake. The Shannon pub in Bucklesham does food and is a walkable mile from the campsite. For those who like more of a hike, it’s also possible to walk or cycle the three miles to The Fox Inn at Newbourne which has a good menu of pub grub and a beer garden. For a riverside view and good food, try The Maybush Inn at Waldringfield.
