Tipi glamping atop the cliffs, within strolling distance of Cornwall's famous Bedruthan Steps

You’ll be looking at the world from another point of view after you visit this secret clifftop spot, overlooking Cornwall’s renowned Bedruthan Steps. Legend has it that a giant called Bedruthan used the beach stacks here as stepping stones to take a short cut across the bay. Whether fact or fiction, you can’t help but marvel at the scale of this majestic scenery. And, at night, the sea view turns to sky view, as the stars reveal themselves. It was the place's designation as a 'Dark Sky Discovery Site' that first inspired owner, Sarah, to turn the place into a glamping site so that others could come and enjoy the view too.

Set a few hundred yards back from the cliff edge, the 14-foot Native American Sioux-style tipis are visually stunning, with their wooden poles and taught canvases creating a tall and airy feel. Eight tipis in all, adorn the meadow, each furnished with beds, rugs, low tables and lanterns and a handy torch – although you may choose the Milky Way to guide you to the loo at night. Every tipi, has it’s very own fire pit and seating area, too, so you can catch the sunset over the Celtic Sea as you toast marshmallows or watch it rise over the eastern end of the meadow with your morning coffee. With sea views and star gazing like this on your agenda, you’ll wonder why you haven’t always lived off grid (and you'll realise why the giant Bedruthen claimed the cliffs all to himself for many years).

Facilities wise, there are composting loos, hot showers but no electricity – so bring a decent cool box for your beers and battery packs for your phones. But the upshot is additional peace and quiet and a good break from the gadgets and emails, something only accentuated by the fact that children aren't permitted on the site, so it really is a chilled out affair.

If you haven’t yet been to Cornwall, then you’ll find out why its one of the UK’s most popular destinations. Seaview Tipis seems custom made to really show the place off. The famous South West Coast Path is at practically at the end of your tipi-toes and it's a half-hour walk to the nearest beaches, including the likes of Porthcothan, Park Head and Mawgan Porth. Magwan Porth’s in particular is home to a couple of excellent surf schools, which help first timers take to the waves or can rent you boards if you've already got a bit of experience.

We stayed here for 3 nights- it was absolutely amazing. Never stayed in a Tipi before and it definitely went above and beyond our expectations. The views in the morning were incredible; all the facilities were just perfect. Sarah was more than helpful to accommodate us and our needs. I will definitely be coming back next year.

Seaview tipis was a wonderful get away and experience. The views every morning and evening made the whole trip perfect for us. Sarah was an absolutely amazing host, so friendly and welcoming, we had everything we needed. Hot showers 24/7 and clean toilets! Battery packs for phone charging and tea and coffee if you wanted. Easy access to beautiful bays, Sarah told us all the best spots! The tipis were fantastic in any weather, we had some wind and rain however the tipis made it very comfortable. It was the perfect location for our dog to run around as he pleased and socialised with Sarah’s dogs. Would definitely recommend to anybody who is looking for a glamping experience with perfect views and gorgeous sunsets.

Fabulous tipi with wooden furniture overlooking the Southwest Coastline. You can see the waves from your bedroom door! Hot showers available 24/7 and very clean compost toilets and washing up facilities. Each tipi has its own outdoor space with a wooden table and benches and an easy to use firepit. It is camping in comfort. Mawgan Porth is easily walkable along the coastal path and there are several food and pub options. The nearby Trevibban Mill Vineyard is excellent, taxi's available if booked in advance. A great base for a trip away to Cornwall in a beautiful relaxing setting.

This was my first time glamping, and it was simply wonderful. Sarah was a fantastic host - welcoming, friendly and super helpful. Everything was so well thought out and also thoughtful, with lots of little 'touches' to make it feel luxurious (even the compostable toilets felt fancy!). The location is amazing - right on the cliff edge overlooking the sea to watch the sunset and hear the waves. A 2 minute walk to the Coastal Path, and a 45-walking/5 min drive distance to several beaches. There's lots of amenities on site available - washing up facilities all provided, shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the showers (2 hot and 1 x cold outdoor shower), tea/coffee at Sarah's shepherds hut in the morning, plus torches and lanterns in the tipis. The tipis are magical - big, comfy bed, with table and chairs inside, plus a private picnic table and firepit just outside. With only 8 tipis on the site, it felt very 'exclusive', though super friendly. My dog and I had a fantastic time and will most definitely return again!

Each tipi comes with comfortable beds, crisp fresh linen, fire pits and our hot showers & communal kitchen trailer provide everything you need for a perfect, off grid stay.
Nearby attractions
The tipis sit in a "Dark Sky Discovery Site" which means the lack of light pollution allows for some of the best star gazing in the whole of the UK. For those who love outdoor activities this site is at the hub of some of North Cornwall's best beaches and National Trust sites. From the site you can join the South West Coast Path and stroll to three of the local beaches—Porthcothan, Park Head or Mawgan Porth which are 45 minutes away by foot. The Booby's Bay Walk is a National Trust recommended route starting in Porthcothan which offers views across Constantine Bay and onwards to the lighthouse at Trevose Head (1 hour and 30 minutes). You wouldn’t be on holiday in Cornwall if you didn’t give surfing a go! Or perhaps you’re a well seasoned pro—either way, the site has access to some amazing surf beaches and schools including Kings Surf School in Mawgan Porth. Fistral Beach in Newquay is also only a 30 minute drive from away, with its world renowned surfing and extensive sandy beach. The Eden Project is a 35 minute drive away, booking in advance is recommended. Attractions include the 2 biomes, The Giant Bee, outdoor gardens and cafes and restaurants.
Food and drink

Campfires at the site are encouraged, so bring your own food and drink to curate your own Cornish culinary adventure by the sea. Remember, they don’t have electricity - so we recommend you bring a long lasting cool box for beer, wine and perishables. They provide basic utensils to use on their firepits and watch this space for more information on pre-ordering 'make your own breakfast' boxes.

A new pop up kitchen called Stacks By the Sea are just next door to the site, a few minutes walk from Seaview Tipis Campsite, offering takeaway coffee, hot food & snacks throughout your stay. Otherwise head over to Catch Seafood Bar and Grill (01637 860372) in Mawgan Porth for epic sunsets and amazing seafood. Treadrea Inn in Porthcothan (01841 520276) or The Merrymoor Inn (01637 860258) in Mawgan Porth are both good options too.

Newquay is only 20 minute drive South, which has hundreds of fantastic cafes, restaurants and shops. Along with the glorious Padstow, only 15 minutes North.
