Cherry Mason’s Fruit Farm is a simple campsite which pops up for the summer in a handy spot between Porthleven and Praa Sands. The village shop is over the road, the village pub is next door, and the spire of the village church forms the backdrop to your view. From here it’s less than a five-minute drive down to harbourside Porthleven and less than 10 to Helston or Praa Sands. In fact, all of the Lizard Peninsula and all of Lands End can easily be explored from here. It’s what makes this Hipcamp a great place to pitch a tent or park up in a campervan.
Both are welcome here—and so are your dogs. This is a fairly relaxed and informal site where campers are asked to pitch up between the site’s young fruit and olive trees, which have been planted by owner, Max, in the last few years. He will lend you a fire pit for your stay, sell you logs and charcoal, and help you out with electric hook up if you want it. He’s on hand if you have questions but otherwise he’ll leave you to enjoy your stay here. Facilities are plain but plentiful and kept clean. There are flushing loos, hot water showers, plenty of drinking water taps, and a place for washing up—with a camper’s fridge/freezer too.
This is a campsite with all the basics taken care of and without any gimmicks or distractions. It’s a great base in a great location for exploring everywhere you might want to see in the far south and west of Cornwall. You can jump in a car and within about half an hour be anywhere you might want to visit: Porthleven, Praa Sands, Kynance Cove, Lizard Point, Penzance, Land’s End, St Ives—and just about anywhere in between.
