Strawberry Fields Farm is a berry farm located in Sherman, CT. The property was originally farmed by the Giddings family who built the house and barn in 1775. It is one of the oldest homes in Sherman, CT. General George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and the Marquis de Lafayette passed by (the house is located on Washington's map) on their way to meet Rochambeau in Hartford. Captain Giddings was one of General Washington's officers. The property is surrounded by Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy land trust to the west and to the north and east by federal land which protects the Appalachian Trail. Access to the Appalachian Trail is direct from this property and hikes can be taken north toward Bulls Bridge, or south toward Pawling, NY. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent on our farm located adjacent to the Appalachian Trail just over the border of where it crosses into CT.  The camping spot on our farm offers privacy but also a picnic table, fire ring (firewood available) and swimming hole and best of all you have direct access to the Appalachian Trail. Walk north 3 miles to Ten Mile River, or 4.5 miles to Bulls Bridge. Or walk south to access the Great Swamp in Pawling, NY.  Also, if the chickens are laying, you can pick up some fresh eggs in our farm stand for breakfast,  We also offer honey, maple syrup, veggies, herbs and berries in season. We live on the property with our sons and our two big, but friendly dogs (they are behind an electric fence so only meet them if you want to). You may bring pets but they must remain leashed at all times (we are adjacent to a main road and dogs run more quickly than you think). There is a swimming hole on the property. There are turtles and snakes but they don't bother us and we don't bother them. There are also a few kayaks that guests are welcome to use. However, it is SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK. There is no lifeguard. Children 12 and under must wear life jackets when swimming or kayaking regardless of swim ability. Please bring your own life jackets as we do not have any extra to lend. Our property is a perfect spot for quiet camping, just enjoying nature and is a great base for day hikes on local trails. We are not good fit for larger, rowdier groups. Please specify when booking how many in your party and tell us a little bit about what you are looking for. We like to make sure all our campers have the experience they expect. We like to meet you to show you around so please provide an estimated time of arrival. If it isn't possible we will send you all the instructions you need to get settled on your own. Thank you!

Strawberry Fields Farm
Samantha is the sweetest host ever! She was very kind and accommodating. The camping site is beautiful and spacious and it is located right next to the AT trail. It was my second time camping there and I can’t wait coming there with my family. Thank you so much Samantha for such a great experience!🙏

This was our third year camping here! The hosts are communicative and wonderful. The spot feels private. The site is right by the Appalachian Trail and there are lakes nearby to checkout.

We loved camping at Strawberry Farms with our dogs! Samantha was very accommodating, when there was a chance of thunderstorms she even offered us to stay in her barn.

Wonderful hosts!
Samantha's land is exactly as pictured - or better! She and her husband came to check on us just enough that we felt cared for, but not so much as to invade our privacy. They were incredibly accommodating about special requests re: arrival (we had a few last minute changes to our schedule) and they also left a very generous wood pile that was plenty for our trip. The only complaints I have are not anything within their control: there is very frequent road noise/neighbors playing music until after midnight on our trip. We had some equipment failures and had to leave early, but based on their hospitality we would stay here again!

Great location, lots of space, lots of privacy, great spot for a tent in the shade of the trees, the place has a great farm vibe, and the hosts are wonderful. Camped with three kids.

Beautiful setting in a lovely shady field. Hosts were friendly and responsive. There is lots to do in the area, right on the Appalachian trail, we had a great time exploring. And we loved our farm fresh eggs!
