Nestled in the oak-studded hills of North West Atascadero a charming site awaits you...an unforgettable destination surprise. A charming old country road leads to a sole-campsite exclusively for you and friends/family. The bathroom is straight out of the Hobbit, equipped with hot/cold water, stall shower, fluffy white towels and camping supplies. The propane firepit is perfect for evening gatherings with your companions and marshmallow roasts (read: S'mores). (Sorry...no open wood fires) A hand-carved trail surrounds the area: complete with a suspension bridge, chicken coup, rocky bridge and fish pond. Additionally, we provide a sustainable eco-friendly environment for our guests: including trash, recycling and composting receptacles. Also wildlife galore: plenty of turkeys, deer, racoons and quail. The nights are dark but we provide flashlights...then turn the flashlights off for a dazzling evening of stargazing. Atascadero is the perfect base for discovering the Central Coast: wineries/tasting rooms, olive oil tasting, abundant trails for walking/hiking; golfing as well as exploring the beaches: Morro Bay, Avila Beach, Montana de Oro, and northward to Cambria, Cayucos, San Simeon and Big Sur. All of these attractions within a 30-mnute drive. Look forward to seeing you...Located on the south side of Atascadero, Wendee's Whimsical Camp Site is a destination getaway that puts you with nature, yet mere minutes away from downtown Atascadero, and a few minutes more from the heart of some of the best wineries the world has to offer. There is only one campsite, which is yours, giving you full privacy. The campsite also provides exceptional stargazing.

My husband and I loved tent camping at wendee’s whimsical camp. William and Wendee were lovely and welcoming. The ranch is beautifully decorated with impressive attention to detail. Car camping with access to a full service, perfectly clean bathroom complete with hot shower was luxurious! Nice and private experience.

Had a great stay at Wendee’s Whimsical campsite! The hosts were both so kind and friendly. William has created a truly special space and his pride and care for it shines through. Loved the generator powered bathroom/shower and s’mores shed. Enjoyed the fire pit and star gazing at night and a short morning walk on the grounds before leaving. Wish I could’ve stayed longer but I will definitely be back!

My family camped for two nights in a tent during the winter, and overall, we had a great experience. The small bathroom house was a lifesaver—it helped keep things clean and mud-free, especially since it rained during our stay. The hot shower was an absolute luxury, making our cold-weather camping trip much more comfortable. One thing to note: if you're driving a longer vehicle, maneuvering can be tricky, particularly in wet conditions. The mud made our car slip a bit, so be prepared for that. Otherwise, a wonderful spot!

Everything about this spot is great! It’s honestly the nicest “camp” bathroom I’ve ever seen. The owners have put a ton of work into making the spot wonderful for their guests and it really shows. The short hike around the property is great for kids and dogs. I’d definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful stay! Wendee and William truly poured a lot of love and creativity into this campsite and it definitely lives up to it's name. They were so kind and went above and beyond with the amenities and cleanliness. It was pretty secluded but has plenty of things to do. Was perfect for our one night "glamp"!!

Our weekend at Wendee’s Whimsical Campsite was nothing short of magical! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every little detail had been thoughtfully curated to create an unforgettable experience. The campsite had everything you could possibly want for a cozy yet adventurous getaway—s’mores kits ready to go, binoculars for stargazing or bird watching, and the comfiest hammock for lounging in the fresh air. The adventure trails that surrounded the site offered the perfect opportunity to explore and reconnect with nature. The hosts were absolutely incredible—warm, welcoming, and truly dedicated to making sure we had the best possible stay. They’ve gone above and beyond, ensuring every corner of the site has its own touch of charm and whimsy. It’s the perfect blend of comfort and wilderness, and we could feel the love and care that went into creating this space. Whether you’re looking to unwind by the campfire, take a hike on the trails, or simply relax under the stars, Wendee’s Whimsical Campsite is the ultimate escape. We cannot recommend it highly enough! Can’t wait to return!
