Welcome to Coco, the 1970 Overlander 27’ Airstream! We have tried to preserve her 50-year-old charm as much as possible and are still in the process of restoring her to her original glory. Our family of 4 humans, two dogs, and one guinea pig lived in Coco while our house was being built. It was quite an adventure!
Coco is nestled in the foothills of the Sierras on our semi-private 4-acre property. Easy access to Grass Valley, Nevada City, and the Yuba River. Coco the Airstream is fully functional with a kitchen and bathroom. There is one full-ish size bed that sleeps two comfortably in the bedroom area, and the couch can fold into one twin-sized bed.
We are located about 15 minutes to town and 10 to the nearest grocery store. Coco the Airstream shares the property with a private family of four humans and two dogs in a house at the top of the hill. My parents are full time RVers and often stay in the other RV spot on our property throughout the year when they are taking a break from traveling. The two dogs are very friendly but may bark to greet you upon your arrival.

Jessica was really helpful and sweet allowing me a last minute reservation for Coco. I appreciated that. As far as the trailer itself, it is an old "vintage" model that hasnt really been restored in any notable way. The dining table has been removed which made it more spacious inside but awkward for eating a meal. I had an ice chest I used for eating and as an ottoman. The bed is fairly comfortable but again, the sheets and blanket are so old its hard to tell if its actually clean, same with the bathroom. Stove doesnt work which didnt bother me at all for one night. The potty empties onto the driveway where you park so watch your step! Its basically an old trailer parked on an empty spot on the edge of a driveway. No charm or creative additions to note. If you are an Airstream fanatic then by all means give it a whirl, as it is very original. You can hear chickens and road noise if your looking for all quiet this isnt it. Again, the host was great and I had an easy nights sleep, it served for me just fine.

A Dreamy Piece of the Past
This is the second time we stayed in Coco the Airstream. It is a great place to kick around after spending the day in the South Yuba river. It really feels like you have stepped back into a different time. If you have a telescope, bring it! It's a great place to stargaze. Extra points for Jessica being a great host.

Clean and cozy. A coffee pot I couldn’t find, but no worries

With kids
I’ve had very positive and some not so good experiences through Hipcamp. This was pleasant. The airstream is super cute and they’ve done a good job maintaining it. It is old so things aren’t fancy, which is what is charming about it.
When we first arrived, they had the AC running, but it wasn’t really cooling it down. We turned it off and opened all the windows while we went to Nevada City. When we got back it felt much better. Then the AC worked like a charm!
The only issue I’d say, is the bathroom can get a bit smelly which is to be expected with something as old as Coco. I kept the window open and bathroom doors closed and it was fine.
We enjoyed staying and the host were very helpful with anything we needed.
