The Gertie Bus is located a 5 min walk to a beautiful white sand beach (at low tide). There are walking trails all around and lots of beach access. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

Island Gertie
I would highly recommend Gabriola Gertie. It is well laid out and has everything you need. It is close to anywhere you want to go on Gabriola. The bathroom, though just a few steps away is great, and the option to wash dishes in the laundry room was very nice. The only con would be the outside cover is a sun shade so you can’t sit outside under it if it is raining.

So charmed
I loved my 3 night stay on Paige’s cozy Blue bus. It’s well-appointed (decently stocked kitchenette), comfortable (heater+fans, good bed, seating areas inside+out) and clean. It was nice to walk to several beaches with interconnecting trails and Paige was helpful with suggestions on what to check out. A minor inconvenience was the short walk to use the bathroom in her house but hey, that’s camping. The constant snuggles I got from her cats more than made up for that :) Paige is also a talented and prolific potter; check out her studio and bring home a souvenir of your stay. I’ll definitely be back.

A perfect beautiful piece of heaven on Gabriola Island. You get a sense for island life and are steps from the ocean. We loved our time at the Gertie and would definitely return. Paige is amazing and made it feel like home.

Sweet spot
This place is a gem tucked away in a beautiful, friendly little neighborhood by a gorgeous beach perfect for picking rocks, sifting sand through your toes, swimming and meeting new friends. In gratitude to Paige and Lizzie 💞

Island Gertie
We enjoyed our little gateway at Paige’s place. The Gertie converted bus is cute and cozy. At night we turned on the heater so it’s very comfortable! Walter is the cutest and the kitty will follow you everywhere so cute. The place is also very close to the beach, so that’s a bonus! And make sure to check out Paige’s pottery studio. She’s very talented with her art work! Don’t hesitate to book this for your glamping experience

Glamping option with comfy bed
Cute old bus, comfortable bed, fairly private outdoor area. Loved the proximity to the beach as well as the very ripe and delicious wild blackberries hanging all around the bus. Appreciated that we could bring our 12-year-old golden retriever with us! Other than some cobwebs here and there, the bus was fairly clean and had dishes, pots and pans, etc. A vase of fresh flowers was left on our outdoor table after we arrived which was a nice touch. There are no screens on the windows and we did get a few mosquito bites overnight - but we were there during a wet period. Likely, there would be no mosquitos during the dryer part of the summer. Note, the bathroom is in the lower level of the main house (next to the owner's pottery studio) and is shared with other guests that stay in rooms on another part of the property.
