Our property encompasses 20 acres of hillside hardwoods and boulder fields, land-locked as far as the eye can see with similar hillside hardwoods and boulder fields. Capping the upper part of our property and much of Chandler Mountain are 80 - 110' sandstone clifflines that host some of the earliest recorded recreational rock climbing in Alabama. We are mere miles from a few other rock climbing destinations including Horse Pens 40, Little River Canyon, Cherokee Rock Village (aka Sandrock), and Palisades Park in Oneonta.
Rising 800' from the valley floor, Chandler Mountain is home to a variety of outdoor activities from bouldering and rock climbing to road biking and motorcycling. There are often music festivals at nearby Horse Pens 40 and many more activities in the surrounding mountains and rivers.
Chandler Mountain is known as the "Garden of St. Clair County" and is home to some of the larges tomato farms in the SE. U-pick fields are open much of the year for the farm-to-table shopper.
Native American history in the area goes back to before recorded history. Initial settlers arrived from the East 100's of years ago. Today, Chandler Mountain and Steele, AL are thriving rural communities with all the amenities necessary for a fun weekend away.
