A pair of exclusive-hire bell tents on the edge of the Cotswolds, near Bath

It’ll just be you and your gang if you decide to book the bell tents at Toghill House Farm. This exclusive-hire site is a boon for families and groups who want to get together around the campfire without disturbing – or being disturbed – by anyone else. There are two bell tents here, each sleeping four, pitched in a field with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Those are all yours along with the field’s own facilities. And, on top of all that, this place is just a 10-minute car journey from the lovely city of Bath.

All things considered, Toghill House Farm Glamping is just right for a celebratory stay. It’s perfect for two families who want to holiday together, for extended family groups or even for all-adult getaways. For a low-key hen do – this would work well. All are allowed at this friendly and laid back location on the south-west edge of the Cotswolds, and so is the family dog.

Toghill House Farm also has a shepherd’s hut and B&B rooms and the level of hospitality learned in that trade seems to have trickled down to the tents. Beds are made, towels provided and the well-equipped outdoor kitchenette is stocked with tea, coffee and hot choc, not to mention logs and marshmallows.

Often those who come here just want to hang out on the site surrounded by the farm’s fields of sheep and horses. There’s enough space for kids to run about and for adults to simply relax and take in that view. But the vista might also tempt you to explore; there’s a lot contained within it. You can see across the Bristol Channel to the Black Mountains in Wales, to the Mendips, the Cotswolds and, on a clear day, all the way to the Malvern Hills too. Bath, with its elegant streets, Roman history and Jane Austen connection, is the obvious choice for sightseeing – but all the above are possible day trips too.

Exclusive Glamping field, with two spacious bell tents, sleeping a maximum of 8 people. Private shower room and kitchenette with sink, hot water, fridge, twin hob, cooking utensils. Firepit and BBQ. Positioned on our beautiful working farm, surrounded by grass meadows, animals and a view to die for! 10 minutes north of Bath city centre. Easy excess from M4 J18

Amazing campsite! Had everything necessary for a comfortable stay for a group of 8 - fridge, portable stove, utensils, bedding, and a nice bathroom. The tents are great and there is even a covering over the picnic table in case of rain. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again!

Toghill house farm Glamping
We had a lovely three night stay at the Toghill House Farm glamping tents! The tents were comfortable and spacious, the kitchen well-equipped, the bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water, and the view was spectacular. It rained quite a bit, making it difficult to eat at the picnic table, but the Monopoly game in one of the tents came in very handy!

Girls weekend away
Really lovely set up with private toilet and shower, little kitchenette and fire pit. The teepees easily cleep 8 comfortably and was really nice to have electricity, lights and an actual bed to sleep on! Of you do have 8, recommend bringing a few camper chairs for round the picnic bench. Fantastic host and property- thank you!

Glamping with an amazing view
We had a brilliant stay at Toghill Glamping site. Myself and my partner’s family (8 campers) had the use of the 2 teepee tents set on beautiful farm land, with an amazing view down the hills. With warm, comfy beds (and our own hot water bottles), all the cooking equipment needed including BBQ, and even marshmallows and logs for the fire pit. I would highly recommend a visit to Neil’s site. I will definitely be returning in the future.

Nearby attractions

Toghill House Farm Glamping is on the south-west edge of the Cotswolds, about a mile from the village of Wick and about five from the edge of Bath. The city is home to Britain’s only naturally-heated thermal baths – book yourself in for a session there or head to the Roman Baths Museum to see just how long this tradition has been going on. There’s also the Jane Austen Centre to discover and plenty of elegant Georgian architecture to admire. There are plenty of pretty Cotswold’s villages to visit nearby including Castle Combe (nine miles) and Lacock (15 miles). If you want to stay closer to site, you can head out on a signposted short circular walk around the farm itself or follow public footpaths to Doynton (two miles) where there’s a good pub. The Cotswold Way National Trail also passes close by at Hamswell (one mile).

Food and drink

The Cross House in Doynton (two miles) is owner Neil’s recommended pub for a meal or a drink – and you can walk there if you want to work up an appetite. There is a pub slightly closer to site, The Rose & Crown in Wick, which is easy to get to if driving, offering pub grub and a family-friendly atmosphere. The Hare and Hounds is another recommended favourite (four miles from site) on Lansdown Hill as you head towards Bath, of countryside and the city. If you want to cook on site, local produce should be easy to find with a farm shop due to open across the road (at the time of writing). Alternatively, there’s a handy Spar shop in Lansdown, four miles away.
