Family-friendly pop-up camping in the heart of the New Forest.

When your campsite lies in the thick of one of the country’s great national parks, swimming pools, games rooms and onsite entertainment seem wholly redundant. You won’t find any such fripperies at Teddy’s Farm, a cracking New Forest pop-up between Lymington and Brockenhurst. This is camping as it should be, with acres of space for kids to run themselves ragged playing games and building dens.

A refreshingly relaxed atmosphere reigns here, with dogs welcome, campfires permitted, no formal pitches to hem you in and an uncommon sense of space that makes you appreciate what a find this place truly is. As a working sheep farm, kids will love meeting their bleating new friends and may even be lucky enough to catch the resident sheepdog at work. Facilities are basic but more than adequate for a site of this size that only pops-up fleetingly for a month or so at summertime. Best of all, the farm’s very own pasture-fed lamb is available to buy – a fitting and delicious centrepiece for your campfire cookout.

Though titular host Teddy’s family have been rearing sheep at the 170-acre Battramsley Farm since the late 1970s, his family’s farming roots in the New Forest go back over 200 years. So if ever there was a campsite host who can claim to know a thing or two about these parts, it’s Teddy. And with a wealth of walking routes, scenic seaside spots and little-known gems to seek out, there’s no end to the adventures that await beyond the farm gates. The pretty port town of Lymington lies five minutes’ drive away and boasts a plethora of olde worlde pubs and charming chocolate-box shop fronts on its quaint cobbled streets. Henry VIII’s Hurst Castle and the innumerable woodland trails of the national park will capture your interest, while beaches aplenty await – the sandier varieties can be found further west towards Bournemouth, Mudeford and the Christchurch Harbour.

Grass Pitch
Spacious pitches, with plenty of space for children to play. Fire-pits for hire, which was a bonus because lots of new forest venues do not allow fire-pits. No complaints about the compost toilets. We didn't try the showers as we only camped for one night, but there seemed to be plenty of shower cubicles available. Great location for easy access to Lymington.

Grass Pitch
A grudging review as we don’t really want to share this site. Teddy’s Farm is lovely quiet and sheltered family campsite. Basic, but with a touch of luxury.. showers were hot and powerful and the coffee was a welcome treat. We will be back!

Great campsite
We had a great time at Teddy's. The information we received before we arrived was very clear and we had no problem in finding. Once we arrived Teddy was very friendly and helpful. Great location and we loved the coffee van in the morning - a great idea! Thanks - we hope to be back again next year

Grass Pitch
Great family camping experience!
This was a lovely campsite if you like a wilder camping experience. We were on Field 2 which suited us perfectly. We washed our dishes by the tent with water we heated up on our stove. The compost toilets were perfectly suitable and urinals as well. It's a muddy walk to get to the barn with washing up facilities. If you prefer these you should stay in Field 1. It felt so remote and peaceful. The ability to have a fire pit in the evenings added to the experience and overall cosy camping ambiance. There was plenty of space and privacy as tents were spaced apart very well. We would come back again.

Camping with family enjoying nature
I went camping with my daughter and grandchildren to Teddy’s Farm for the 4th year running. we pitched up in a good spot, compostable toilets were kept very clean, a big bonus having hot showers and a freezer to keep ice packs frozen, as well as a mobile coffee van in the mornings. Had amazing lamb burgers from the farm. Teddy and his family are very friendly and accommodating we will definitely come again next year.
