Scenic, simple camping with North Norfolk's best sights on your doorstep

Archer's Field is exactly what you need from a reasonably priced rural retreat. Owners Peter and Kate are experienced in this field — and are experienced with fields, given their ownership of a farm — with the husband-and-wife couple previously running Airbnb cottages for holiday-goers. Now, they've opened their farm gates to a more outdoorsy venture, offering space for 20 pitches in a meadow and Aldar carr opposite their smallholding. Plant your tent down anywhere, breathe in the fresh country air, and go explore some of the most picturesque sights Norfolk has to offer.

In a meadow lined with mature oak, ash, and poplar trees, Archer's Field lets you set up camp next to a gorgeous pond, with myriad wildlife joining you during your stay. Expect to see nesting buzzards, grazing deer and muntjac, along with hooting owls and fishing egrets. Picnic benches line the water, allowing you to take a seat and watch the world go by. While a simple pitch, there are still higher quality amenities than your typical portaloo and cold shower; two modules provide flushing toilets, hot-water showers, and a basin for you to spruce yourself up, while fresh produce can also be obtained from the farm gate. Two bell tents are also available to hire for those who want to leave their own accommodation at home, and parties can opt to book out the entire site exclusively for an unforgettable stay with all their family and friends.

Peter and Kate are attentive hosts who are extremely knowledgeable of their local area; feel free to ask them for their tips on the best walks, cycle routes, and activities around the Erpingham site, of which there are many given its close proximity to Norwich — less than a 40-minute drive away — and the nearby coast boasting scenic sea views from the likes of Overstrand and Cromer beach. Entrench yourself even deeper into your natural surroundings with a visit to the Norfolk Broads, ideal for rambling or cycling along its woodland and waterside trails. Be it the Broads, the coasts, the countryside, or the seaside, Archer's Field places you within reach of all that North Norfolk has to offer.

Archer's Pitches
Beautiful field
Beautiful field and area - 10 minute walk to a choice of 2 pubs. We preferred the Spread Eagle - beer was better taken care of there. We were there at the end of August of 5 days and loved every minute. The hosts are really friendly and down to Earth. Local brewery Wild craft is worth a visit and there is are some lovely cycle rides on non busy road....Beaches are close - loved Waxham (seals swimming along in front of us) although both Sherringham and Cromer are closer. I think that at a busier time the number of toilets could become an issue as would the washing up sink - but for us neither of these would be a deal breaker Thanks for a lovely stay....

Martlet Tent set in a beautiful Alder Carr
Spacious bell tent
Lovely bell tent. Comfy mattress. Basic site, but decent hot showers (x2) and toilets were clean. Peter was helpful and there were fresh eggs and plums (when we were there anyway) available from the farm across the road. We arrived with a buggy on public transport (bus), and were able to walk to the site via a footpath behind the pub, and a short walk along country road (15 mins) Traffic from main road can be heard from the site, and there were some military aircraft manoeuvres over the weekend we were there, so it wasn't the most peaceful camping experience!

Didn’t want to leave!
Lovely quiet friendly campsite. Perfect for kids - they all made friends and had a great time running around together. Good facilities and the tables around the field were a nice touch. Need to drive to attractions like the beach. Lots to choose from!
