Sea-view camping above Druidston Haven Beach in Pembrokeshire

Simple name. Simple campsite. Amazing place to be. There’s nothing to distract you from the wild natural beauty of the Pembrokeshire National Park at this back-to-basics campsite in the very west of Wales. The grassy pitches at this view-tastic spot are enhanced by the sea, the sunsets, and the starry nights. It's got access to all the good stuff—the Pembrokeshire Coast Path passes right by the site and the closest beach is a five-minute walk away—and there's masses of open space. However you spend your days, just make sure you’re back in time for a campfire as the sun goes down, setting behind St David’s Head just across the water.

Camping at Clifftops is pretty relaxed. There are no set pitches so, whether you arrive on foot, via the coastal path, by car, or in a campervan, you can pick your spot in the field. It’s all off grid and facilities, as you might expect for a pop-up campsite on a farm, are pretty basic. There are portable toilets, a single shower, and a couple of sinks shared between all campers—but the place is clean and tidy. And you can play your part in that too. “Leave no trace” is the motto here and campers are asked to take away their rubbish and recycling.

It’s a small price to pay for a spot in a location as good as this. In addition to unspoilt Druidston Beach, you're on a coastline with plenty more. Two miles to the south is Broad Haven and three miles to the north is Newgale. Both are lifeguarded (Druidston is not) and good for surfing with surf and kayak hire available. And all the varied highlights of the Pembrokeshire coast are within reach, with a car. You can visit the UK’s smallest city, St David’s, set out on a boat trip to see the puffins on Skomer Island and enjoy the thrills and spills of Oakwood Theme Park, all within half an hour’s drive of here.

The site includes 4 portal loos, a shower and 2 washing basins. Recycling is available though we would prefer you to take home what you bring Nearby Activities Pembrokeshire national park and Coastal path. Stunning surf beaches, both Druidston beach is a 5-minute walk and Broadhaven beach is a 30-minute walk. Broadhaven has two great pubs that both do meals, as well as surf and kayak hire. Nolton Haven, a 30-minute walk has a great pub and restaurant as well as a surf shop with the hire. Newgale beach is a 10-minute drive where there is a good pub and multiple surf schools and water sports equipment hire. Further afield is the stunning "smallest City in the world" St. Davids... which has all sorts of attractions including the famous Cathedral, coasteering, boat trips to Ramsy Island, Surf shops, hire etc. Further again but South and with in an hour's drive is Oakwood theme park, Manor Wildlife Park, and Wild Lakes Wakeboard park amongst others.

Nearby attractions

The unspoilt Druidston Haven Beach is a five-minute walk from the campsite and best visited at low tide as much of the beach is underwater when the tide is high. The sea also has strong currents so for surfing and swimming, head 30 minutes’ walk up the coast to the sheltered beach at Nolton Haven. There are bigger, lifeguarded beaches at Broad Haven, two miles south, and Newgale, three miles north as well. Surf board and kayak hire and lessons are available at both. All are within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, a national trail, offers a great way to see more of the coastline. It passes directly past the campsite along the cliff edge – so setting out on it is easy. The UK’s smallest city, St Davids, is 13 miles from site with its cathedral the must-see site. It’s been a place of pilgrimage and is now also popular as a launching point for boat trips to the RSPB reserve on Ramsey Island, home to peregrines, choughs and seals. Skomer Island is another option for wildlife lovers which can be visited on a trip from St Davids or Martin’s Haven (12 miles) to see nesting puffins. Families might enjoy a day out at Oakwood Theme Park (17 miles).

Food and drink

It’s less than 10 minutes in the car or a 30-minute walk to Broad Haven where you’ll find the closest shop for supplies to cook for yourself and the closest place for a meal out as well. Choose The Galleon Inn for pub classics or The Ocean Cafe for breakfast or coffee with a sea view. In neighbouring Little Haven, there’s more: The Swan and the St Brides Inn by way of pubs and The Cornerhouse Cafe. It does great juices, good coffees, breakfasts and lunches. In the other direction, there’s a pub on the beach at Nolton Haven (three miles), The Mariners Inn which does food and real ales. The closest supermarkets are in Haverfordwest (seven miles).
