We can only recommend this sweet little camp site in the middle of the orchard. We stayed in a bell tent for the weekend with our 7 year old son. The tent is cosy with a lovely wood burner.
There is a communal hut kitchen with all ustensiles and board games!
We enjoyed all the fire-pit and the honesty box to buy wood logs etc.

Weekend Trip to The Flower Belle
Everything about our experience was great!
Jo is extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful and has created a relaxing retreat with superb facilities, location and views.
The Yurt is spacious, comfortable and stocked with everything you need to relax, The horse Box that has been converted into a shower and kitchen is top notch and well stocked!
The outdoor area with hot hub is bliss and we made full use of the BBQ as well.
Overall a fantastic experience and we will return.

My grandchildren and I have stayed at Brakehill Lodge Farm twice. It has proved to be our happy place. Peaceful, and just remote enough to escape the madding crowd.
Clare is a considerate host. She loves her home and all the nature it encompasses.

1 night at Bircham Windmill
Spotlessly clean, the showers and facilities were as good as at home, the extra added thoughtfulness of clean bath mats tea towels washing up liquid and lots of toilet paper and hand towel and soap.
My shepherds hut was delightful, and yet again everything I needed with the welcoming cream tea, milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, spotlessly clean as everywhere was.
The windmill, the bakery, the café, my grandchildren loved the animals and the play area. There is absolutely not a thing I can think of that was not perfect. Oh I forgot to mention the games room. Thank you

We loved camping in the bell tents. The views were amazing. We loved that the sheep and donkey roam around the campsite area. The kids activities were a lovely touch and my son enjoyed taking the goat for a walk. We will be back some day!

What a fabulous weekend camping. Great facilities, super friendly owners (our kids loved seeing the turkey chicks up close!), good location with the beaches about half n hour away. A great meal too on Saturday night, we look forward to coming back very soon!

A spotless shepherds hut, welcoming with some delicious treats.
A lovely place to stay with great views after climbing the windmill, freshly baked bread on the premises and friendly staff.
Clean showers and bathrooms.
Farm animals such as chickens, donkey and a horse in the field and the owl calling at night.

2 nights at The Orchard at Fen End Farm
Me and my partner loved spending a couple of nights at Fen End Farm. Our bell tent was lovely, toilets and showers were clean, kitchen space was well equipped and the farm and orchard were beautiful. Vicky and Amy were kind and helpful and the camp had a very peaceful atmosphere. Efficient self service logs and kindling and easy to buy local produce such as lollies made from apple juice from the orchard. Try the Fen End cider it’s delicious!!

4 nights at Bircham Windmill
The pitches are a really good size so you don't feel on top of each other. It is a small site, which is a bonus. The shepherd's hut was really comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches and a cream tea to welcome you. The site is very pretty and sitting in the morning with a cup of tea looking at the windmill and seeing the horse, donkey, lambs and chicken was a wonderful start to the day.

When to go
Summer is peak season at Wicken Fen, and the boardwalks can get crowded, especially on weekends and school holidays. Some of the best wildlife-watching opportunities are in springtime, while increased rainfall through autumn and winter makes the wild landscapes appear even more dramatic. The reserve is open year-round, but boat tours and bike rentals are only available from Easter through October.
Know before you go
- Wicken Fen is located in Cambridgeshire, about a 40-minute drive from Cambridge.
- There’s no public transport to the park, but trains run to Ely, a 20-minute taxi ride away.
- The reserve has restrooms, a café, and a visitor centre. Bike rental is available, but advance booking is recommended.
- There is an entrance fee to visit the reserve, as well as a parking fee.
- The boardwalks are accessible for wheelchairs, but advance booking is recommended as access can be tricky at busy times.
