This peaceful, sheltered site has a special character. The site is the ideal place to unwind with plenty of safe space, a meandering river and friendly atmosphere. It offers 4 acres with facilities, 7 acres of wilderness, shower block, level pitches, picturesque river, children’s playground and has been rated AA 4 star gold pennant.
Becky and John both love Cornwall and fell in love with the site as soon as they saw it and it provided the perfect opportunity for a new challenge.
Having only recently taken over at Willow Valley in the Summer of 2024, there are always ongoing improvements being made so make sure you keep in touch. Any returning campers will be glad to know we aren’t changing the campsite itself though. Why would we when it is already so perfect!

South Town Camping opened for a month in 2018 to see how guests would take to its private 10-pitch site. Tucked away in North Devon's Arlington estate, amid twenty-plus miles of footpaths and bridleways, this is a campsite designed by committed campers and it shows.The grass pitches are spacious, with paths leading to them mown into the wildflower meadows, all set within six acres kept peaceful (and safe for the kids!) by the absence of cars — simply roll your belongings to your tent with the help of a super-sized wheelbarrow. At the centre of the camping fields hay meadows are left to grow throughout the summer, providing an almost-wild aesthetic befitting of the sprawling surrounding woodland of which you'll enjoy uninterrupted views. We booked a weekend stay with our daughter and it was lovely, very peaceful and calm. She loved feeding the pigs! The hot tub stays hot for a long time once you’ve got it going so worth firing it up nice abs early. The site owners were always around and really helpful too.

Absolutely magical stay! From the moment we arrived at Steam and Stars, everything was perfect. The hot tub was preheated and ready for us, which was very much needed after the Friday traffic. Nothing was too much trouble for our wonderful hosts, who truly went above and beyond. Our dogs were safe and free to roam, which made the stay even more relaxing. The property was spotless, with incredible attention to detail. We were delighted by the thoughtful extras, like cookies and cake on arrival. The facilities were easy to access and had everything we needed for a comfortable break. The views were stunning — we were lucky enough to see a steam train pass by, adding to the charm! Amazing wildlife all around made it feel like a true retreat. We can’t thank the hosts enough for their hospitality. A fantastic experience that we’ll definitely be recommending! Communication was brilliant throughout!

This is a beautiful campsite, in a remote and peaceful location, with great amenities. We stayed in the shepherds' hut, which was extremely cosy. Ruth and Jono are friendly and welcoming, and we would both come back again and also recommend it to anyone looking for a serene campsite in a beautiful setting.

Beautiful location, we loved staying in the Shepherds Hut. Loads of thought has been put into the space, lovely individual garden with seating, hammocks, so nice to eat outside in the sunshine & to be able to use the outdoor hot tub after a swim. The spa was fab & swimming in the pond was tonic for the soul. Amanda & Rob were great hosts, & they have definitely achieved what they have set out to do - provide people with an incredible place to slow down, appreciate nature & reset. Thank you

Combe Martin Beach
Combe Martin Beach lets campers experience North Devon’s coastal allure first-hand. After settling into a seaside holiday park around Newberry Valley, with tent pitches and family-friendly caravan sites, relax on a leisurely beach stroll or try fishing for local bass, pollack, and flounder. Head to nearby Ilfracombe to charter a boat out to deeper waters to catch conger eel, tope, and ray. While there, explore Tunnels Beaches with tidal pools and sheltered swimming areas.
Exmoor National Park
Featuring expansive hilly moorland and steep wooded valleys, Exmoor National Park is home to spectacular vantage points over fast-flowing rivers and the Bristol Channel. Stay at rustic campsites for caravans and motorhomes in the middle of nature, or set up camp at more developed holiday parks near charming villages with fancier amenities. Then go out and explore the diverse landscape by hiking the South West Coast Path and Two Moors Way. Take the Dunkery Beacon Circular Walk to the summit for panoramic views across the park. Areas around Croyde and Woolacombe offer great views of crashing sea waves for those staying at holiday parks with static caravan hires or lodges. When to go
The temperate maritime climate of North Devon is relatively mild. Overnight lows approach freezing in winter with heavier rainfall from Atlantic storms. As a result, camping near Combe Martin is generally more comfortable from late spring to early autumn, when temperatures approach the low-20s during the day. While summer is sunniest, the coastal location means many days may be overcast, and campers should prepare for the possibility of rain year-round.
