Bootleg Campground
Description
When in Rome, or say Bootleg Campground, it’s important to take some time to yourself and just relax. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to do that here, either camped out under the shade of Jeffrey Pines, or crossing the nearby highway to the Walker River for some legit fishing opportunities. The nearby town of Bridgeport has some claim to fame in fiction, including a small mention in Jack Kerouac’s The Dharma Bums.

Bootleg is in an ideal spot if you want to be secluded from everything; it is about 1 hour from Mammoth Lakes. If you need a spot to camp while you are traveling to Mammoth or somewhere else this is a perfect campground. It is a walk-up only campground so you are taking a gamble but since it is out on its own you will probably get lucky like we did. It is extremely peaceful and quiet here.
