Handsome Lake Boat Access Campground

Grab yourself a site at the Handsome Lake Campground and you’ll immediately understand why they called it “handsome.” Located on the east bank of the Allegheny Reservoir, just north of Sugar Bay, this is the kind of place you’d bring someone to show them how beautiful of a state Pennsylvania really is. When you camp here, you’ll be moving in with over 300 species of mammals that call the Allegheny National Forest home, including beavers, wild turkeys and the allusive gray fox. You could keep yourself, and if you have them, your kids will be entertained here day in and day out. But you might end up just wanting to kick back and soak in the scenery. That’s okay too.
