With the National Park bordering the property where there are several bush walking tracks, lookout points, 4WD tracks, Aboriginal sites, picnic locations, wildlife encounters, bike riding tracks, historical heritage, waterfalls and swimming locations.
Pitch your tent or park your RV, there is plenty of room for you with us at the Valley. Nestled in at the very base of the Mount Kaputar National Park, with breath taking 360 degree mountain views.
A firepit provided with wood available for purchase.
You need to be a self-contained camper with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. There is a picnic table for camp meals and access to rubbish facilities.
Pets welcome, please ensure your pet is restrained if it's likely to chase our livestock.
4WDs are recommended to access our property, and are required in wet conditions.

Riverside Farm Retreat is 13 km southeast of Narrabri. It is a horse breeding farm on the banks of the Namoi River, set over 500 acres, where guests can enjoy camping, fishing, canoeing, and relaxing.

travel east 13 kms out on old Gunnedah Rd (continues on from Main Street). Past Mining camp on your right. Over Bulewa Ck bridge, go PAST Pikes lane on your left, take NEXT turn LEFT onto Maules Ck Rd. View to your right, house on river and yards on left, Riverside Retreat sign on the gates.

Caravans & Campers
DO NOT TURN INTO MAIN GATE OF HOMESTEAD.
Continue on 300 mtrs past main gates just around corner turn right over cattle grid.
Make your way towards the river and find a nice spot if you have not already been allocated a site. Reverse pack on river front sites in peak periods only. There is no requirement to park on any site you can park on 2 sites if that suit you.
We have 🐓FRESH FARM EGGS: Just ask us when you arrive - $7 per dozen 🥚
There is good access for caravans and campers - to get to the property is all tarred roads, with no gates to open, just a cattle grid to cross.
The camping area is spread over a beautiful, wide green grassed space, with plenty of level ground.
There is an abundance of bird life here, including our pet emu Pepper who roams freely, occasional visiting kangaroos and cattle moseying down in the afternoon sunset to drink from the river opposite.

The farm is well maintained, Rick is very welcoming. He is happy to chat or answer any questions. The stay itself is very relaxing, campers need to be self suffient bins provided through.
Rick took us on a tour of his farm and explained the process of catching breeding fish, the breeding process, as well as, catching and releasing fish into the waterways. His dedication to us during the tour enabled us to catch a fish or two and enjoy this experience as a family. The children collected some yabby claws for show and tell. There were several unique experiences such as, the outdoor shower heated by a small fire, eating yabby omlette and drinking water from an underground bore, just to name a few that gave this camping stay its charm.
We enjoyed our stay and will return again when travelling through the area.

We stayed here for one night on our way down to southern NSW and really enjoyed it. The views were spectacular and made it feel like more than just a quick stop. Rohan was a friendly, helpful host and made everything easy.
We had no trouble finding level ground for our caravans, and the power hookup was conveniently located. The toilet was a flushing one and honestly exceeded our expectations.
The river was a bit low for swimming, but it was still nice to sit in and cool off. We wished we could have stayed longer just to relax and enjoy the surrounds.

Nice relaxing spot right in the lake. The field is full of prickles but on the flat area where the camp spot is there is a lot less. The lake is stunning, full of swans, ducks & turtles. We even had a few fish jumping out in front of us.
The communication from the host was good but the instructions to the campsite were average. We had to confirm the exact spot with the host as the GPS pin was not near the campsite.

Wonderfully simple to book and an absolutely beautiful spot. My only regret is that I came with a hammock and not a swag It was very windy, which made it cold. That's my fault though, and I'll definitely be coming back the next time im in the area.

Views from the drive up Mount Kaputar & the Summit are absolutely breathtaking. We did a couple of the walks which were quite easy & enjoyable. Sawn Rocks is also a must see
