The Rainier Retreat is .25 acres in Paradise Estates at the base of Paradise of Mount Rainier in Ashford, WA. -The Rainier Retreat is less than 5 miles from the entrance of Paradise. -Horseback riding is available at E Z Times Horse Rides in Elbe just a 15 minute drive. -Enjoy live music and ice cream at The Rainier Basecamp Bar and Grill, just a quick 5 minute drive (check their Facebook for current hours). -If you are in to off-roading, ATV, dirt bikes, quads, shooting then visit Elbe Hills, just 13 minutes away. -Many hiking trails are available throughout, come see all the beauty of Mount Rainier and the Nisqually River. -Lake Holiday and Big Creek are just a few minute walk away. Enjoy the playground, fishing, or jumping off the dock in the summer. The Rainier Retreat has a hookup for power with a 30 AMP and a hose for water to your camping trailer, or a spout if you would prefer to tent camp. It also has an outhouse on the property that is cleaned weekly. The property is fenced on three sides to give you privacy from neighbors. You are allowed to have a contained bon fire (please check for local burn bans) and there is a wood picnic table and chairs for your usage. Dogs are welcome! Please be respectful of the neighborhood (and the lot) by cleaning up after them. Please also take your trash with you when you depart! We felt fooled into staying at this so-called hip camp. The only thing intentionally done for hip campers was the outhouse. Besides that, it is a project that has started and we paid to stay among the mess. We are all for supporting people in their hip camp endeavors, but this needs some work. The heaps of wood piles and overgrown grass were in the least bit welcoming. The only spot to stand and put chairs was on the gravel because it was so overgrown. If you stroll through the neighborhood you will notice intentional Rv spots where an effort has been made to welcome guests. There is an electrical cable from the power box running to the shed laying on the ground. Not ideal to see when you have children exploring the area. Shouldn’t this be buried? There is NO address listed anywhere on the property. All the other properties clearly had their address posted. Also, ONE trash bin? We were here for a week. It filled up quickly. We received zero communication from the host once we arrived. Again, the intentional hip camp vibe was not there. We had been in contact prior to and she was helpful. We would not be this frustrated with our stay had we known the state of it prior to booking and paid accordingly given the state it’s in.

We only spent a short night here but it was great. We were so thankful to find the location when another location nearby fell under evacuation orders leaving us in a campervan with our boys and no lodging. This location was super close to the park entrance, it's location off the main road made it quiet and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us. The port-a-potty was greatly appreciaed. Thank you!

This was a great spot so close to the National Park and so easy to navigate to. The port-a-potty was immaculate and the RV spot was very flat.

Electric, clean porta potty. Nice little spot and works well in a pinch. Not super private/secluded but close enough to Rainier. Best kind of host - effective communication but leaves you alone when needed:) and very welcoming and friendly - appreciate that! Would definitely recommend. Thanks again.

It is very close to the National Park, which is great! It is a very warm spot with no shades. The first day/night we stayed, there was a lot of noise from cars driving fast on the roads surrounding the property. Next day/night was better. We couldn´t find the dumpster for the trash. Only because of how close it is to the park, will we recommend it.

Overall decent

Tent

Overall, it was a decent experience. If you are tent camping, I would not recommend it as the space allotted was not great even with great sleeping pads. It’s in a very nice area but right off the road and there is a lot of road noise. We arrived very late and could hardly see where we were going. A neighbor was incredibly loud past midnight making it hard to sleep on top of all the loud car noises. Additionally, the price was steep for what it was. It does have a very nice porta potty which is a plus in addition to its proximity to the national park.
