The name Twenty-Seven Buckets is a nod to one of the many tales that our land holds. For almost 200 years this property has been worked for sustainability and pleasure agriculture. Our 12 acres are situated on a main road which provides easy access to many areas of interest and is surrounded by several hundred acres of conserved forest. You'll find a rolling forested landscape with open areas that are currently used for growing food and play for our family. We live here so there's a chance you'll see us. We will be available via text to answer questions, but keep in mind, cell service is limited and there is no wifi at the site. We are just minutes from the West and Rock Rivers, under 20 minutes from several great hikes including Black Mountain, Putney Mountain, Wantastiquet and others, and close to many great dining options. We love this area and are eager to share the many offerings it has. Sharing this spot is exciting for us. We have taken lots of care and time to make it special. We expect that our guests will keep quiet hours from 10-6 and carry out trash. We hope you love the unique features of our land, the funky outhouse featuring local art, and the convenience of our location. The entrance to our property is somewhat obscure. Once you've booked, we'll provide details on driveway location. The Lookout is tucked into the north edge of our property and abuts managed conservation land. You can drive to the site for set up and take down, but we ask that for the rest of your stay, you park in the nearby field and walk less than 5 minutes to get to the site. The site is located on the edge of a rock outcropping and features a stone fire pit and bench. You're sure to enjoy morning coffee over looking the woods below and may even catch a glimpse of the many animals that inhabit the forest. We regularly see deer, turkeys, owls, hawks, foxes and more. The tent site is located beneath a mix of hemlocks and hardwoods so there's no grass. The area is raked and clear of leaves and debris. The bathroom is just a couple minutes from the site. There is wood for purchase that we can bring to your site before your arrival.

The Lookout
We had 2 great nights at the lookout . The spot was very private and the property was really nice. Was so nice to spend the day swimming in the river and be back at camp in 5 mins ready to cook food and have a fire . Some nice trees for us to set hammocks up on as well. Very relaxing weekend, would definitely come back

The Lookout
Another amazing visit!
We live in Connecticut and were trying to find somewhere amazing at the last minute that was a little closer to home. We couldn't! So we drove right up 95 to this precious spot in the woods. The firepit is incomparable, and because it was our second time here we felt like we knew our way around the unspoiled Vermont neighborhood. Our hosts were excellent and the property is even prettier in the spring

The Lookout
The Lookout is a beautiful private spot and we enjoyed camping there. We did not meet our host but felt like the site was well maintained and prepared and we could have contacted her with any needs or concerns (just didn’t have any!) Firepit is a beauty, and swimming in West river under the covered bridge unforgettable.

The Lookout
We had a great stay at The Lookout. Karyn was great with communicating ahead of our arrival, and was available but not intrusive during our one-night stay. The site itself is set back maybe 100 yards from the road and house. It felt very private, though some road noise was noticeable at night (it's very difficult to find car camping sites without road noise in lower/mid New England). It wasn't a big deal, though, and I'd take it any day over having noisy neighboring campsites all around. The site was spotlessly clean and the firewood bundle was generous. The toilet was very clean too. We'd definitely stay here again.

The Lookout
We loved staying at The Lookout! It was a beautiful location and everything had been thought of. There was a toilet, a fire ring, the perfect area to pitch a tent, and a small table with two tree trunk chairs. We would definitely go back.
