This central location provides an ideal basecamp close to the Terlingua Ghost Town and both Big Bend State and National Parks. The unique geology and topography of the Goat Pens made this a popular movie set and many westerns were filmed here in the 80's and 90's. This is the second time we stayed at the goat pens! Easy to find, beautiful views and really fun terrain to have a little hike! The first time we went, Jeff was so friendly, showed us around the place and told us great stories about the land! I definitely recommend camping here, easy drive to Terlingua proper and Big Bend.

The views were beautiful and the bathrooms and showers were pretty clean. It’s also nice and quiet so it was perfect retreat from the big city.

The goat pens was a total rip off. It’s completely false advertising. They make it seem like remote camping on a huge ranch with beautiful views but in reality it was a small dirt pit with hills covering the view and you’re directly next to your neighbors. Why make it seem like it’s something it’s not and charge a steep $50 for it?? I wish I could get my money back. I didn’t even stay it was so misleading. We drove in and immediately turned around.
