I took a vacation by myself an drove to Terlingua. On my drive, I fell in love with the area. As I was driving, I noticed a few "for sale" signs along the way and thought how amazing it would be to own property in Big Bend. Most people fantasize about doing something like that, then dismiss the idea. Not me. About a year later, I purchased 40 acres of desert paradise. Terlingua Ranch is 200,000 acres near Terlingua, Texas. Terlingua Ranch is an interesting place that attracts a diverse group of people, from ranchers to artists.  There are many types of houses found here, each built according to the dreams of the respective land owners. This area is perfect when you want to just get away from it all. The stress will just fall off.  Learn more about this land: This is truly an off-the-grid experience. Located in the Terlingua desert, 5 miles off the highway, this property has no electricity, no water, no wifi, no cell service, and no light pollution. It's a wide open desert landscape with mountain views on the horizon. If getting away from it all is your goal, you found the right place. This is truly an off-the-grid experience. Amazing views
We were blown away by the views and by a couple of thunderstorms that rolled through. We didn’t use Jody’s amenities such as the fire pit and table. The items were tossed around the area when we arrived but based on the wind we experienced we could see why they were scattered about. We enjoyed our stay and would stay at Area9 again.

4/5 stars for me. Only complaint was the outhouse setup was completely toppled over and it looked like it had been used as a storage bin/target practice. Lovely Lovely space though.

Peaceful and Secluded
Visited from Fort Stockton with my wife and our 2 kids. I couldn't imagine a better campsite, beautiful days and nights spent here, definitely will be coming back, probably next time bringing a group of friends! Easy to find with her directions! Isolated but close enough to town! We drove to Big Bend one day for a few hours of hiking! Highly recommend this campsite

Edge of Serenity!
AREA9 campsite was hands down the coolest and most beautiful, scenic, idyllic campsite I’ve had the pleasure of staying at. Jody, property manager, is so hospitable and helpful! I think, other than all the beautiful photos, I LOVED the Geocaching Jody set up along the road to the site. Such a fun activity while camping! I also was thrilled to hear how quiet it was, all I could hear was a little wind and a friendly rooster very far off in the distance when the sun comes over 9 Point Mesa in the morning. Sunrises and sunsets are stunning. The entire experience was so refreshing and recharging. Thank you Jody. Definitely recommend! 5 stars!
