The herb, nut, fruit, and vegetable farm was started after carving out a spot to plant and live. The otherwise unspoiled land has a rich history dating back past the Civil War to the Revolutionary War and we are learning more and more about every day. Enjoy the hiking, camping, and wildlife watching opportunities directly across the street from the highest spot in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Our goal is to help educate members of the community about the benefits of natural and historical foods and medicines. We have a vision to raise awareness about herbs and other plants that are beneficial both for medicinal and culinary purposes. Learn more about this land: Are you looking for privacy, peace, and quiet in a remote camping site that isn’t far from civilization? We are less than 15 minutes from I-24 Exit 97, between Manchester and Murfreesboro, just south of Nashville in Beechgrove/Christiana, TN. Only a short drive to Hop Springs and Bonaroo. From the top of the ridge, sloping paths call the experienced hikers while the views call those who just want to enjoy “being.” Hike the relatively undeveloped paths or stroll along the defined walkways. Either way, enjoy the peace and quiet as you prepare to see more stars at night than allowed in some states. Enjoy your next peaceful and quiet getaway at 1300 feet above see level! The 30-acre Farm on Douglas Ridge is next to the highest spot in Rutherford County, Tennessee (higher than all of Nashville and most of Davidson County), and is home to the best unobstructed and unpolluted peaceful view of the moon and stars in the area!  We are under an hour drive from the center of Nashville, under an hour and a half drive from the center of Chattanooga, and under two hours drive from the center of Huntsville. Your getaway to this secluded off-grid campsite with your tent, our tent, your vehicle, a small (under 20 ft camper, pop-up, or hammock) will leave you refreshed and relaxed, fresh from a nature detox. Each campsite has a rock fire pit - you provide everything else (or add them to your list of extras, see below). The Farm provides a peaceful and private camping experience conveniently located between Nashville, Huntsville, and Chattanooga. The host family lives on the property, with about eight acres of open pasture/farmland and twenty-four forested acres for hiking and forest bathing (relaxing in natural surroundings that remind you nothing of the city). All photos were taken on or above the farm. Drinking water, personal toilet alternatives with liner, a camp shower (5 gal), privacy tent for the toilet or the shower, towels with soap/shampoo bars, a food storage security system, kitchen and cooking equipment, and Firewood (7-8 Logs) are available at $5 each, 2 for $9, or 3 for $12. Need a tent? We have a couple of choices starting at $10. Want comfort? Try our 4-inch thick queen-size mattress for $7.50. Let us know of your needs in advance, please, so we can prepare properly for your visit. See the extras to pre-order these items. We will settle the account numbers before you leave. All payments should be made in advance, before unloading, unless coordinated with the host. If you know you are exhibiting or develop symptoms of any illness, regardless of any test results, please give us the courtesy of awareness so we can respond appropriately. Are you looking for privacy, peace, and quiet in a remote camping site that isn’t far from civilization? Decent Site but sketchy area
4 m pop-up camper
The farm itself if somewhat charming. There is a decently level area for a car/camper and a stone fire ring. The host effectively communicated. Unfortunately, we did not feel comforted on our way in to the property nor while we were there. On the way in you see lots of trash and debris on the road. There was a lot of trash and junk in multiple yards and lots of odd stares from the neighbors. The campsite is also directly off of a dead end road where the locals like to rip up and down the street on their 4 wheelers. We ended up leaving the day we arrived due to not feeling secure in the area with the sketchy locals.

Beautiful drive up to the camp site. Carter is a real friendly fella. Quiet and secluded. Wind howls like a train at night. Would definitely stay again!

Amazing for horse camping too!!
My friends and I brought our horses :) When I pulled up into the field, I was sooo delighted! It is PERFECT for horse camping! It was mostly enclosed, and Carter parked his tractor in front of the only big opening so we could let the horses free graze on a gorgeous, lush green grassy 2 acres overnight. It was horse traveler heaven. Sounds like we broke this place into horse camping and they plan on closing it off so horse people, definitely come check it out! It was a liiittle tricky getting in as it very hilly, so might be difficult with a HUGE rig, but my friend’s 46 foot motor home / horse trailer did it just fine. I was floundering trying to make sure I found the proper entrance, but Carter and his wife Sharmyn were very graciously available and super helpful getting us settled. Excellent hosts! Camping here was a magical experience for me and my friends and our horses :) extra special getting a little tour and seeing their happy go lucky dog Dandy. This was my first time Hipcamping! Carter and Sharmyn were so welcoming, and put me right at ease.

Group trip
Beautiful place. We stayed on the night of a really good concert 20 mins away. Carter is such a nice, helpful and overall badass person. I'm hoping there's more music at that same venue (Hop Springs Beer Park) in the near future - I'll be be booking with Carter again, if so... Cheers!
