Welcome to Opossum Hollow in the quaint mountain town of Travelers Rest! Our partially restored 1984 Airstream Excella – lovingly referred to as "`Possum Holler"– is situated on the same property as our home. With a covered space for parking and a 35 foot skylight deck, this outdoor space is designed for cool evening lounging and warm afternoon napping. We worked with a number of local artisans to design and create the entire space, ensuring most every element is handmade, up-cycled, and recycled! KITCHEN & DINING We created an outdoor kitchen on the covered deck with a small gas grill, a huge double sink, and an ice bucket for cool drinks. The vintage wicker dining table is the perfect place to play a game of cards with a glass of sweet tea. There is a kitchen in the Airstream as well, with a functioning gas stove and oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, and electric kettle. The dinette inside is perfect for morning tea or reading a book in the cool early mornings! THE LIVING SPACES Our part of the country is home to a few loving country cats, and we've learned to live as they do. Which is why we've added a lovely daybed which catches the evening sun for a perfect sunset snooze. The sun loungers on either side of the fireplace were made by local craft furniture designers, who created these specifically for Opossum Hollow! The outdoor fireplace is fully functional, and we have firewood available for you by request! We have a lovely handmade picnic table in the garden, which is available for you to use if you want to watch the on-site honeybees gather pollen from flower beds. BATHROOM There is a fully functional outdoor bathroom behind the Airstream, set up for you to enjoy bubble baths under the stars or afternoon cool showers. We've even set up a space for wine glasses beside the tub if you fancy an evening to unwind! We have your towels, robes, and blankets all set, so just show up ready to relax. The bathroom inside the Airstream is not functional, and can be used as a vanity. 👉 Please note, there are cats on the property. They lived here before we did, so we simply coexist together and they will likely be on the deck from time to time. They are never inside the Airstream. 👉 Please note, there are honeybees on the property. Honeybees are not wasps, and they are not aggressive. If you have an allergy to bees or wasps, please take caution and come prepared with anything you may need. AROUND TRAVELERS REST Cycling – The start of the famous Swamp Rabbit Trail is just under 2 miles away Hiking - Caesars Head, Wildcat Wayside, Paris Mountain, and more! Dining - From fine dining to roadside BBQ, we have a printed guide for you! Breweries - Swamp Rabbit Brewery and Community Tap are just up the road! Wineries - Meaderies, cideries, and wineries are all over this region! Markets - Weekends you can explore local Farmers & Craft Markets! ❤️ Opossum Hollow was inspired by our dear friend, Ginger. A portion of the proceeds from your booking will be donated to Hospice Foundation of Savannah, and Greenville Humane Society in her loving memory.Stay in a vintage Airstream for a luxury camping experience while staying just a few miles from the lively downtown Travelers Rest! The site is nestled at the bottom of the property, just down from the main house and near the road that leads to the head of the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Travelers Rest is a town as charming as its name! For over 300 years, Travelers Rest has been a stopover for travelers passing through the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Today, the Swamp Rabbit Trail keeps cyclists and hikers moving through the small town, inviting an incredible dining scene with porches and patios to stop for a spell... and take a rest.

Everything's better with baked good
This was such a sweet space. You will hear the locals driving on the road but it's nothing to be concerned with. The atmosphere of the cute camper, lovely porch, and darling outdoor bathroom keep you longer for more time there. David and Cassie are wonderful hosts and fabulous bakers. You should definitely request their fresh baked biscuits with tasty local honey and fresh butter. It will start your morning out right!

Opossum Hollow was beautiful and relaxing. The hosts were very responsive and even made delicious biscuits for breakfast. There were many extras that were nice including snacks, eggs, bathrobe, flowers, etc. The location is good for day trips to state parks. It is also close to the grocery store and restaurants.

Stay in your very own camper.
I had a wonderful time here. It is a quiet place however there is minimal road traffic so you know. Everything you will need is provided which helped me pack light. Also you should get the welcome basket and breakfast. It’s a great value. I will be staying again next time I’m in Greenville.

Me and my girlfriend certainly enjoyed our stay! The antique Woodstove was spot on and we loved the Polaroid they left out for us to take memories, the bathtub was very nice and hot water on a cool night is exquisite. The freshly baked bread that was brought out to us in the morning really packed it all in. We would definitely plan to stay there again!

Easy place to relax & stay a while
This site is gorgeous! The thought and care that has gone into desigining this site is above and beyond. Everything is designed to make this a wonderful getaway. I loved the deck with the daybed and stove. Directions are very clear. Not much of a cell signal, so plan ahead for that. They do offer wifi, but i didn't use it since it was a short stay on my part. I definitely suggest adding on the basket of food items offered, fresh eggs and bread plus lots of delicious fruit and veggies was worth it! I was able to relax and enjoy my first time in South Carolina!

A Perfect Getaway
With kids
What a truly unique, charming and peaceful camp experience! Cassie and David have created a beautiful oasis with a vintage airstream and covered deck with (dare I say) decadent amenities….from the daybed covered with throw pillows and velvety throws (perfect for reading a day away or cuddling in front of a vintage wood burning stove), the plush bed with lux coverings and all the extra personal touches…Everywhere we turned, there was something new to discover, the wildflowers in dainty bud vases, the locally crafted bath soaps and salts, the robes hanging by the tub, the fresh fruit and snacks, the welcome book that is personalized….The attention to detail is amazing and the design and decor is beautiful 🩷 We were only there for one night but will definitely be back for a longer stay! Book this Hipcamp now, you will not be disappointed!!
