Come and enjoy a traditional/rustic camping experience on the mighty Ottawa river. Be sure to bring your water shoes and a canoe or kayak, or you may rent one of ours. C-O-G is located on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, east of the bridge that passes over from Hawkesbury, Ontario. This beautiful (mostly) deciduous forest (situated on both sides of the 344/Rte Des Outaouais), has been in the family for generations. The 59 acre property (50 acres on land, ~9 acres of river/water) features scenic views, privacy and is host to many outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and more. The shared area... "Lock Lane Point" also referred to as "the Point", is the peninsula that the main roadway ends at (where the BBQ and canoes are), this is a shared area for us and our guests to enjoy. Guests are encouraged to come and go as they like, be welcoming and inclusive and try not to "take over". This spot features a large picnic table, a communal propane BBQ, some comfortable chairs, a large boulder for taking in the river and the sunshine from and there is a fire-pit. This is also the preferred location for swimming and for setting off on your canoe/kayak/paddle-board river adventures, as it features a shallow entry and rocky bottom. One such adventure, is to head upriver, around an island, and loop back through the remaining historic canal. ...It's a historic lazy river! Many amenities are only 1-3 kms away, such as a gas station (with vehicle charging stations), an IGA grocery store and several restaurants including, McDonald's, Tim Horton's. You will also find some of the best poutine around, for a traditional poutine, try Jos Patate (they've been there for many decades now) and for a wild variety of poutine, head to La Fromagerie ...want ice cream, La Crémière is in the same building. Many tourism attractions such as white water rafting on the Rouge River and the Parc Omega zoo are located nearby (10-25 km. away). And day trips to Ottawa, Montreal or the Calypso water park are about 1 hours drive away. A little History... Our property has played host to a portion of the rich history of this area which included three railway tracks, a canal and a lock. The railway beds remain and the lock has simply been flooded over. Following the war of 1812, three Ottawa river canal systems were constructed between 1819 and 1833 to bypass the Long Sault Rapids on the Ottawa river. These canals were in use until 1961 when a large portion of the canal system was submerged due to the construction of a hydro-electric dam (~22kms downriver) at Carillion. As a result, the river level at our property rose high enough to submerge the top of the lock walls by ~3.5 feet. This submerged lock is located a few hundred feet offshore and can be seen using Google Earth as it measures 50' x 300' in size. Once you have a good idea where it is, throw on your water shoes and a life jacket and enjoy an interesting experience of walking on the walls of a submerged lock.

The Maple Loop
Beautiful serene camping spot! We were only passing through so we didn’t get to fully explore, but sat by the river for a bit and enjoyed all the trees around our spot. The instructions were clear and it was easy to book. Thanks ✨

The Cattails - On The Ottawa River
10/10 👌🏻
Very incredible! Really great host! Intimate sites with easy access to common areas, plenty of things to do! Well built fire pits and picnic tables! Had visit from lots of cute frogs 🐸 and chipmunks 🐿️ We were lucky enough to see the beautiful eagle nesting close by! 🦅 Toilets were really clean, paths were accessible and the whole site stayed bone dry despite the rain! Would 100% recommend and will absolutely return!

THE BEST
Brien was SO sweet and accommodating. He let us use the paddleboards even though we did not pay or reserve them! He was always responsive and brought us coffee in the morning. The property is beautiful and very private and the water is beautiful! Thank you so much, Brien! See you again on our next visit :)
