Tent Camping by the Lake.
Pristine and primitive for pack in
This primitive site is best suited to experienced and somewhat adventurous campers, not casual car campers. The campsite is pristine, not a single piece of plastic; even the tent weight rocks were carefully stacked largely out of sight under a a plant. Previous campers at the site clearly adhered to the host’s philosophy of less than zero impact. The lake itself is pristine wilderness, peaceful and restful, with human intrusion limited to the dock and a few boats . Access is by a 1km grassy road through fields, glorious in their mid-summer beauty, followed by a second km through a shady woods road. On the way in I was greeted by the sight of two dozen cranes, a delight for me if a pest for farmers. On the way out I had to wait while two butterflies had sex in the middle of the road. Naughty things. Near the beginning of the road through the field is a culvert bucked up by frost, a painful scrape for most cars and near the end of the woods road is a steep hill of cobbles, pretty hard on any car. Both completely impassable for any lower slung sporty number. Access is best by high clearance vehicle, if that is your style, or an easy and enjoyable two km pack in, through a remarkable landscape, one of the best parts of the experience of camping at this site. Communication with the host was good and the directions to the site fully adequate for one used to reading maps and air images. I am looking forward to an opportunity to return.

Tent Camping by the Lake.
Looking for a camping spot to stay overnight on our journey, what Laura could offer us was so unsuitable that she would not escort us to the site. Her description of her lake side camping site was "rocks and mud"; quite a difficult drive along a tractor path that only a truck could make. We turned about and looked for something else in the area

Impossible with small car
I wish we actually stayed there; it sounds like a great place but unfortunately, our small car did not have the clearance to travel on the road that leads to the site.

Beautiful site in a very remote are. Our dog loved running around off leash and exploring the woods and lake. Road in is more like an atv path and would not be navigable with a small car (our Subaru Forester bottomed out a couple of times). Had a wonderful sleep in the wilderness.
