48 acres hosted by Andrew M.
We came to the area in 2020 with the goal of having a COVID hideout, but quickly fell in love with the area and now spend the vast majority of our time here, regardless of the season!
It is surprising to many but much like almost all of Ontario cottage country, the area has been logged several times over the last 200 years. Our forest has been recovering for around 50 years now, and we're on the journey to ensure it's protected well into the future. As part of this we've been harvesting dead wood to let more light in, removing Poplars, and re-planting quality saplings such as Red Oak, Maples, Beach, Pine and Spruce trees to speed up the recovery process. Overall the forest is mature, healthy and a pleasure to spend time in. With time we hope it'll only get better.
You'll find the area is overwhelming full of nature. Beyond the trees you'll find deer, coyotes, porcupine, squirrels, chipmunks, bears, owls and many other birds, even the odd moose!

Welcome to your private campsite! You'll be camping on a 48-acre, forested property where we only host 1 campsite, which is extremely private with no visible houses or other campsites nearby. The campsite is within our woods on a large south-facing hill, accessible by a walking trail from our parking lot (approx. 15-minute walk). You will have access to 2 parking spots for normal-sized vehicles.
The campsite is a cleared area in the woods with ample space for 2 tents. The site overlooks Coleman Lake (obstructed distant view through trees), and the property directly abuts Redstone Lake (not visible from your campsite).
We do not provide direct lake access, but you are welcome to use the public boat launch that is a 1 km drive/walk from our property. There are some great areas on the lake for you to explore, so bring your water toys (canoe, kayak, or paddle-board) if you have them!
A great feature of our property is the privacy and feeling of remoteness combined with easy access to nearby amenities. The town of West Guilford is just a 10-minute drive from our property and has a great local store for food, snacks, and beverages. The Haliburton Highlands Brewery is just another 5 minutes away on Highway 118. The Haliburton Wolf Forest Centre has great activities year-round and is only a 15-minute drive away.
We live on the property, just down the hill past the parking area. We ask that you respect our privacy and not continue on the driveway past the parking area. However, if need us we're just a phone call or text message away (cell service is spotty in the general area but half decent at the camp site).
Please note that due to the remoteness of this site, camp fires are not allowed. Cooking stoves etc are perfectly acceptable.
