The Poor House
The Poor House was a wonderful place to stay. The cabin itself was very cozy and comfortable with an excellent bed and all expected amenities. The site was very private, being surrounded by cedars that also provided ample shade at all different times of the day. The trails, pond, and bridges made for relaxing and scenic walks for us and our two pups. We were also very grateful for the free and well seasoned firewood and very efficient fire pit. Will definitely visit again if we get the chance. Many thanks Renee and Warren for being such welcoming hosts.

The Poor House
This must be the place!
There is something magical at the poor house!
Maybe itâs the gentle hum of insects or the sunset through the trees, but I think maybe itâs just the amount of love and care that went into this little Hipcamp!
The sites are BEAUTIFUL, clean, private and stocked with everything you could possibly need for a tranquil evening under the stars.
It felt a lot like provincial park camping levelled up! The bed was cozy and comfy, the sites were very private and well spaced, the property was a joy to explore with my pup! He didnât want to leave! The bathrooms are incredibly clean too!
Renee and her husband are amazing hosts. I instantly felt at home. They showed me everything I needed and left me to enjoy the solitude!
Note- there is a highway nearby you can hear, but itâs very quiet. The popping of the fire and buzz of the insects was louder!
Book this one now! It wonât last! I know Iâll be back.

The Poor House
Really fun night off for me and my dog! Super friendly hosts Renee and her partner Warren... The Poor house is a small private cabin perfect for 2! Small portable fire pit was perfect for a windy evening with tons of firewood readily available( with some effort, firewood doesn't just grow on trees ya know). There is no power but some basic lighting and supplies r provided, I brought a Ryobi inverter, light, sawzall.all were used! Some simple suggestions. The cooking table sb stabilized with some small patio stones. A fire extinguisher sb attached to a tree outside by the fire pit. a small inverter..ecoflow or similar inside the cabin.
My dog wants everyone who may camp here to know that any tree he peed on is his!!!
A couple of negatives. The property is located next to a secondary hwy. Fairly heavy traffic noise during the day,at night it was fine. Water feature helps at night a lot. I had no internet! Which is weird because this location is so close to Orillia. No data,no wifi, nothin.
Overall, it was fun. Best to have some pre existing camp/survival skills i.e. build a fire to fully enjoy.
