Welcome to Funky Places and Cool Spaces! Our little plot of waterfront land is a place of healing and co-operative living. We, (Rusty and Marty) are co-habitating in separate residences on the same property with a shared vision of community and sustainability. Our residences are not off grid yet but the cottage, (which is for guests to rent, Rusty"s tiny house, Marty's tipi and the school bus conversion all share a 60 amp service. We collectively aspire to a simple and natura,l alternative way of life, living as close to nature as we can. We utilize the sun and earth to create our own energy and food sources and leave a minimum carbon footprint.
We actively try to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can in an effort to honour Mother Earth and her gifts. Each residence has a lovely view of the lake and private areas. There are a canoe and kayak for guests to use, BBQ, fire pit. Please bring your own linens and drinking water. Everything else is provided.
Guests are welcome to investigate the small organic gardens and ask us about our gardening methods and vision. Our funky little cottage is decorated in bold Mexican colours, furnished mainly with antiques and its walls are decorated with artifacts from around the world.
There is a queen sized bed in the master bedroom which has french doors overlooking the lake and an en suite doorway to the bathroom. There is a double bed, dresser and hooks in the cheerfully decorated second bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with a full-sized fridge and authentic wood stove which has been converted to an electric range. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything needed to prepare a meal or BBQ with and is also equipped with an antique hosier. The 3 piece bathroom has a shower, Mexican sink, counter top and toilet
The 32 foot deck extends 12 feet out towards the water which is only 15 feet away. Enjoy sunrises, morning coffee, reading, watching the kids play or morning yoga, on the deck, right outside your door. There is a man-made, sandy beach for the kids to play at, a gradually slopping boat launch, suitable for any water craft to be unloaded at and a 24 ft dock to park your play toys at. The beach did flood last year but guests said it didn't affect their enjoyment of the waterfront, or the cottage. If you are short on your own play toys, there are a kayak, 14 ft fiberglass canoe and a 12 ft aluminum fishing boat with oars available to use.
Bass Cove is a quiet dead end road so bring your bikes and enjoy the loop and friendly quiet neighborhood. It is 10 minutes from the Glenora Ferry which gets you to Prince Edward County, the Sandbanks, Bloomfield's eclectic shops and the many wineries and micro breweries in the area. It is only 40 minutes to downtown Kingston if you should fancy a night out or 25 mins to Napanee or Picton. Both communities are also easily accessible by boat.
